O'Brother Are Not a Country Band

I feel like I hear about a dozen bands everyday, and because I am human and only have so many hours to try to listen to things, I make simple assumptions about what a band probably sounds like. I know, I'm a terrible person. I would send in my rock critic club membership card, but for some reason, I never got one.

So it was with O'Brother, who are not in fact the alt-country act I assumed them to be thanks to the Coen brothers, but in fact, a loud-as-hell band that would appeal to fans of heavy rock acts like Tool and Queens of the Stone Age but also fans of slightly more out there indie groups like Isis and Converge. I imagine your eardrums might not be terribly happy with you if you attend O'Brother's show at Club Congress on Tuesday night, but you will have the opportunity to see a smart, talented band that you'll likely be telling your friends about for weeks.
