Best Place for Chicks to Become Bike Know-It-Alls

BICAS Sundays

OK, so the world of bike mechanics isn’t as intimidating to women as, say, the world of car mechanics. Or stealth-bomber mechanics. In fact, bikes are basically accessible to all. Still, working on bikes does involve some tools that some females aren’t masters of—for example, at the risk of perpetuating a stereotype, a lot of girls out there didn’t grow up learning mad hexwrenching skills. If you didn’t, and you identify as a female—or if you didn’t, and you identify as whatever, and you’re trans—then BICAS is the place to go on Sundays. From noon to 4 p.m., BICAS’ workshop is open exclusively to women and transgender folks, meaning the friendly staff will help you learn all of the intricacies of your bike, and fix whatever ails it, using their tools and workspace for just $4 per hour. (And if you don’t know what BICAS is, that’s sad. Go to their website.)
