Editor's Note

Things to Come

Some updates and FYIs this week:

• As I type this, arts editor Margaret Regan and calendar girl Linda Ray (Linda came up with that title, so don't blame me) are working hard on next week's Fall Arts Preview. On Aug. 18, expect a startlingly comprehensive list of Tucson arts goings-on between now and the end of the year from Linda, and intriguing details about some of the highlights from Margaret.

• Have you seen the lineup for the Tucson Area Music Awards show and concert? In a word, it's fantastic. Every one of the scheduled performers—Neon Prophet, Seashell Radio, The Tryst, Greg Morton, Hollywood Knights, and Gabriel Sullivan and Taraf de Tucson—is actually a TAMMIES finalist this year. I am excited, and you should be excited, too, if you like local music.

The TAMMIES show takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Rialto Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the music starts at 7. Be there.

• In September, we'll finally launch our long-promised medical-marijuana column. While the column, at least at first, will be different than we anticipated—thanks to the actions of our governor and attorney general, there are no marijuana dispensaries to review—we've decided that it is important to cover local medical-marijuana goings-on as the various legal matters wend their way through the courts.

As for the columnist himself/herself: We're currently in the process of interviewing and vetting the finalists.

No promises, but we're aiming to debut the column on Sept. 8. Watch for more details as that date approaches.
