Supreme Court Puts Off Health-Care Suit Hearing Until September

An update on yesterday’s reports (here and here) on the lawsuit to block the Brewer administration’s plan to reduce low-income Arizonans’ eligibility for insurance companies through AHCCCS:

The Supreme Court said it would consider attorney Tim Hogan’s petition to block Brewer’s changes, but not until September—which is several months after the changes are set to go into effect.

Hogan says that he could ask the court to accelerate that schedule or seek an injunction at the Superior Court level, but he’s waiting to see whether the federal government grants the state a waiver to reduce the AHCCCS eligibility standards.

“I’m not sure that’s worth doing until we know what the federal government is going to do,” Hogan said. “You have to let this mature a little."
