Rasmussen: Goddard Gains Ground But Still Trails Brewer

A new Rasmussen poll shows that Democrat Terry Goddard has gained a bit of ground in his challenge to Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, but still trails by double digits:

Republican Governor Jan Brewer continues to maintain a double-digit lead over Democratic challenger Terry Goddard in her reelection effort in Arizona.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Arizona finds Brewer with 55% support to Goddard’s 39%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and another three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The race remains Solid Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Gubernatorial Scorecard.

A month ago, Brewer, who has been boosted by her championing of the state’s new immigration law in the face of strong media criticism and a U.S. Justice Department challenge, held a 60% to 38% lead. Goddard, the state’s current attorney general, is an opponent of the immigration law.
