Back in the 1970s, it was not uncommon for master (unlicensed) Chinese acupuncturists to work out of makeshift treatment rooms in quiet neighborhood basements—and people would line up to be needled. Acupuncture has come a long way since then, but with that, it's also become expensive. Acupuncture never claims to cure, but the list of things it may help with is lengthy—from acute back pain and arthritis to addiction control and depression.
