The State Budget Budges

The Republican's state budget proposal moved out of the House Appropriations Committee yesterday. It still appears to be riddled with gimmicks to me—especially the plan to sweep impact fees and to grab money that school districts have in their accounts—but Republicans on the approps committee voted to advance the plan, even though some of them think it's a bad idea, according to Mary Jo Pitzl's coverage.

Howie fills us in on the budget details, including the legal problems; Scarpinato brings us the latest on Rio Nuevo, which has been essentially eliminated, although Rep. Frank Antenori tells him that's a mistake that'll be fixed.
