Marilyn Merlot

Nova Wines of Napa Valley has been making popular Marilyn Monroe-themed wines since 1985, including Blonde De Noirs, Marilyn Cabernet and the playfully named Marilyn Merlot. Those wines will be highlighted at an Invisible Theatre Company fundraiser at Pastiche Modern Eatery, 3025 N. Campbell Ave., at 6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9. $125 per person, $75 of which is tax-deductible. Appetizers, sweets and music by Joe Bourne and Rob Boone are included. Call 882-9721 for reservations. Visit or for more information.

Holy Crèpes!

Café Zope has opened at 344 N. Fourth Ave., bringing a menu of sweet and savory crèpes to the downtown scene. Items range from a traditional lemon-and-sugar variety for $3.25 to a not-so-traditional crèpe stuffed with Swedish meatballs and red-beet salad for $8.25. Italian sodas, iced tea and coffee drinks made from organic, fair-trade java are also available. Co-owner Sabine Blaese (who also owns the nearby Café Passe) says things have been rolling along just fine for the quaint crèperie, and that weekend hours will likely be extended in the near future. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily. Free delivery is also available downtown; call 623-3700.

It isn't often that one gets to munch on pickled herring and pastries for a good cause. Drachman St. Proceeds will benefit a number of kids' fitness programs scheduled to take place when the National Danish Performance Team visits Tucson at the end of the month. $20 in advance; $25 at the door.
