Local Foods Farm Dinner
Janos Restaurant will celebrate locally grown foods, Nimbus beer and Sonoita's Callaghan Vineyards wines on Sunday, Oct. 19. The growers, winemaker and brewmaster will be honorary guests and will join patrons at large communal tables for a dinner showcasing the bounty of our region. Embrace the local harvest, and think like a desert locavore. Among the participating farmers and ranchers will be Forever Yong Farms, Agua Linda Farms, the Chicken Ladies, Briggs and Eggers Orchards, Double Check Ranch, 47 Ranch, San Xavier Co-op Farms, Native Seeds/SEARCH and Avalon Organic Gardens. Pumpkins and Ponies
Unplug and take the short drive to Amado (40 minutes south of Tucson, off Exit 42 on Interstate 19) to Agua Linda Farm for its eighth annual Fall Festival. Admission is $7 (cash) per vehicle and includes a petting zoo, hayrides, a kid-friendly maze, live music and a Friday night movie. Pumpkins, pony rides, grass-fed burgers and produce without pesticides are for sale. No pets or outside food are allowed.
