Musical Revelry

At long last, the Tucson Area Music Awards are here!

Next Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Rialto Theatre, is the time and site of the TAMMIES. The awards--voted on in final-round balloting by almost 1,500 of you fantastic readers--will be flyin'. The music--by TAMMIES finalists Golden Boots, Tom Walbank, the Crystal Ridge Bluegrass Band and Michael P. Nordberg, as well as Jo Wilkinson and the newest members of the Tucson Music Hall of Fame, the Sand Rubies--will be rockin'. And the food--from Enoteca, Brushfire BBQ Co., eegee's, Marco's Patisserie and Javalina's--will be fantastic.

The whole shebang starts at 7 p.m., with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. (I recommend getting there early for the food, aka the Taste of the TAMMIES.) Best of all, the whole thing is free.

If you care at all about the local music scene ... please come and celebrate with us. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: We here at the Weekly don't put on the TAMMIES to make any money. (It would be nice if we did, frankly, but we generally don't.) We put on the TAMMIES to honor and support the local music community that does so much for Tucson.

Whether or not you can make the TAMMIES ceremony, be sure to pick up next week's issue, which will include our usual TAMMIES supplement, with the list of winners and runners-up, as well as features on the big award winners. (You can also pick up that issue at the end of the TAMMIES ceremonies at the Rialto on Wednesday.)

Thanks to everyone who voted in the TAMMIES. See you all on Wednesday!
