Bombay Grill

Indian food lovers, take note: Bombay Grill opened in January serving South Indian-inspired dishes like dosa/sambar (a curry crepe), authentic biryani, sizzling tandoori platters and wraps made with naan and chutney. First-time restaurateurs Jinaid and Cheryl Ahmed offer many vegetarian items, too, at 2510 E. Grant Road; 881-2786. Bombay Grill is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Nothing but Noodles

The second location of this badly named fast-casual franchise opened last week on the restaurant-scarce westside at 2500 N. Silverbell Road. Nothing but Noodles does serve main course salads and is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; 624-0222.

Trader Joe's

The fourth Trader Joe's opened two weeks ago in its largest incarnation yet on the northwest corner of Campbell Avenue at Limberlost Drive. Aisles are wider and longer; the vast variety of prettily packaged merchandise almost rivals A.J.'s Fine Foods, and both the beer and cheese selections are awesome. Trader Joe's is open daily; 325-0069.

Delicious Altruism

The second annual Tucson Culinary Festival fund-raiser held November 2004 raised $9,000 each for the Community Food Bank and SACASA. Tucson Originals, a consortium of local, independent restaurants, and their wine distributors were responsible for its success. Chopped

Coming soon to the former Mongelli's location at 2829 E. Speedway Blvd., Chopped will serve salads and paninis. Stay tuned.

Ravishing Reds

Join Ariel Rubissow, one of the few women winemakers, at Bistro Zin Sunday, March 6 for a four-course dinner paired with wines from the Mount Veeder region of the Napa Valley. Reservations are required; tickets are $90 per person, tax and gratuity not included. Bistro Zin is located at 1865 E. River Road; 299-7799.
