STAFF PICK: It's easy to miss the Ghost Ranch Lodge, tucked away as it is under shady trees in a part of town made nondescript by seemingly unending highway construction and abandoned box stores. The Ghost Ranch is a well-kept secret, but it's the kind of place you'll want to recommend to out-of-town guests as something that captures the feel of how Tucson used to be in the days before highways and box stores. The lodge, designed in part by the famed artist Georgia O'Keeffe, is a complex of little bungalows amid a citrus grove and cactus garden, an island of greenery and quiet--and cheap, too.
