Don Dokken

Don Dokken's unique vocal stylings helped set his band, Dokken, apart from many rock bands in the 1980s. Dokken has just released its second studio album of the new millennium, Hell to Pay. Asked if he still performs such Dokken classics as "Dream Warriors" (from the A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 soundtrack), Don offers a truthful answer: "If I can hit the right key that day. ... I recorded that when I was in my prime."

What was the first concert you ever saw?

Led Zeppelin, on the Physical Graffiti tour.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

I'm listening to a lot of newer bands, like Audioslave and the new Orgy.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

That I honestly own? About 100-200.

Do you download music, and if so, legally?

No, nobody from my time believes in that.

What was the first album you owned?

Yes, Roundabout.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

Any one of my songs ... maybe "Alone Again."

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What are your guilty pleasures?

Wham!

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, The Beatles, The Who, among others from that time. They just kept me goin'.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

The Beatles, A Hard Day's Night.
