· Two colors. Twelve pages. A handful of arts stories, columns, cartoons and ads. And that was it.
· The area's population was roughly half of what it is now. Meanwhile, Ronald Reagan was heading toward the end of his first term. The top four pop-music songs in the country were Van Halen's "Jump," Culture Club's "Karma Chameleon," Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller." And much of the UA's current freshman class was in the process of being conceived.
· Well, now, 20 years have passed. George W. Bush is heading toward the end of his term. Norah Jones, Kanye West, Evanescence and Outkast are topping the charts. And God knows what the UA freshmen are doing.
· Putting aside the politics, the music and the freshmen, we can all agree: Tucson and the Weekly have come along way.
