Re: “Out on Top

My nephew! Your first writing gig was with my newspaper The Tucson Sun Press! You had great talent reviewing the hip hop artists in the early 90s! God bless your journey and keep writing! Thank you for inspiring me to keep writing as well!

Re: “Out on Top

Big Ox is a legend I remember all the Sessions at Heart 5 back in the day. I respect him cause he did things on his terms and his way never trying to follow the crowd he just did music he felt was right. Salute Big Ox

Re: “Tucson Salvage

Old age doesn't suck.

It's a sure sign that you're not dead.

Peace Brother. DC

Re: “Song of the Day: Billy Sedlmayr Weighs in on Old FM Staple 'Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo' and Johnny and Edgar Winter

'Johnny Winter And Live' version of "Johnny B Goode" is still the best version (that I've heard)...other than Chuck Berry, of course.

Re: “Your Indispensable Back-To-College Guide

Here's how the items on the list would've read when I was a freshman at the UA from 76 to 81. The following items would read pretty much the same: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 15, and 16. The following items would read differently: 8. Goodwill and the Salvation Army were pretty much your only choices, 11. We'd still go to the Loft but it was on 6th Street and Fremont (now a parking garage), 14. Student Union, 2nd floor, east end had big chairs and sofas and of course the top floor of the Main Library, 17. We'd go to the Student Health Center at Cherry and University (now the Sonett Space Sciences Bldg.) because it was free, 18. No one cared about your mental health. And items that weren't a thing back then-2, 7, 9, and 10.

Re: “Hasty Tasting

Question: purchases at Fry's may include e-coupons or member discounts when done in person. Would using a delivery service have these discounts [or, for that matter Senior Discounts the 1st Wednesday of the month] or would it be full price for all items?

Re: “Tucson Salvage

To tell the truth, old age sucks. I have a T-shirt that says it all. " I may be old but I got to see all the cool bands"

Re: “Editor's Note

It's good you're not paying the interns:
"some peperoni and mozzarella cheese"
"$400 dollars"

Re: “Editor's Note

Durham's hit pieces against Chew are a turn-off. No one in our central neighborhood has his campaign signs up. (They're only stuck on street corners with the others'.)
He's desperate.

Re: “Out on Top

Big OX is one of the many inspirations to me and Tucson's Hip Hop community. It's been great to work with and become his friend out side of hip hop / rap stuff. His journey is far from over. Peace and blessings to you Marcus. Also Big ups to the Tucson Weekly for showing respect to a great artist, and father.
