Re: “High There!

I hope that there will be some education/knowledge available for those of us new to Medical Marijuana and trying to segue from anti-inflammatories and such to some dose of THC/CBD. Having to experiment (I was really cool one week) to make this happen is not great for a chronic condition.

No offence taken. It's good that we can agree on and be cordial regarding certain things.

Take care. DC

Re: “Photo Opportunity

This is a wonderful article with great photos. However, I must point out an incorrectly identified photo. On page 12 the lower photo is identified as "Joe Cocker was getting by with a little help from his friends". The photo is actually of Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson, lead guitarist of LA based blues band Canned Heat. Wilson is seen here onstage at Woodstock playing his iconic 1954 Goldtop Les Paul (with the STP sticker placed between a pair of single-coil pickups he installed to achieve his signature sound). During his short life Wilson influenced many blues guitarists and in my opinion earned his place among the best musicians of the era. He died at age 27 just two weeks before Jimi Hendrix died and four weeks before Janis Joplin died. Rest In Peace Al Wilson, although you're no longer with us, your music remains for us to boogie on!

Re: “A [Fill in the Blank] as the Democratic Presidential Candidate? I Guess Democrats Just Want to Lose.

If that is true we deserve to be reimbursed.

The nearly two-year special counsel investigation of Russian election interference led by Robert Mueller cost nearly $32 million in total, a new filing shows.

Who came up with this hairbrained idea?

You secured the convictions of President Trumps campaign chairman, his deputy campaign manager, his national security advisor, and his personal lawyer, among others, Nadler said at the start of Muellers historic testimony before the House Judiciary Committee last week.

So OUR Congress makes up lies to charge others with crimes? This will not end well.

Re: “Photo Opportunity

This touches my heart. You are an inspiration. This story reveals the genesis of the photographer, Tim Fuller, who will do whatever it takes to get the optimum shot. And I loved Jimi Hendrix since Band of Gypsies in the early 70s. You were right there! Love you, man.

Re: “Somebody's Watching You

Pretty terrible article, especially for one with four bylines. No stats or any real information worth a crap.

Things you should have included:
- ARS Statues that state how and why these tools can be used
- Specific things thats departments do or dont do to protect privacy concerns.
- How flying drones is no different than police using helicopters or airplanes.
- Legal definitions for expectations of privacy.
- Mentions of other aircraft/helicopters departments have.
- Stats on the usages for surveillance, accident scenes, rescues.
- Anything thing else that educates the public instead of winning you internet points with your friends.

Re: “A [Fill in the Blank] as the Democratic Presidential Candidate? I Guess Democrats Just Want to Lose.

Again russian trolls didn't not steal the election. an insignificant number of voters even saw them and despite continual harassment by clinton worshippers no one said their vote was changed. Russian trolls is much easier to blame then clinton ran a horrible campaign turning off black and progressive voters trying to get republicans to vote for her, who loathed her!

Re: “Interview With TUSD Board Member Leila Counts

The Family Life curriculum is available for review on the district's website. See, for example, its Scope and Sequence here:

It will be controversial because many constituents will view it as taking over the teaching of values / morality topics that properly belong in families and religious communities.

As for Ms. Counts, she won't be doing a fine job until she drops the misleading story about highly qualified Kindergarten teachers. (See her first comment on this blog: )

People who've seen the way the district operates find it very hard to believe that someone capable of dealing with the REALITIES of TUSD would use a narrative like that, which has little to do with the actual state of professionalism in the classrooms, including the FACT that many classrooms in the district are currently filled with a rotating cast of long-term subs who do not have teaching certification.

What, in this context, is with the talk about reducing class sizes? Is she not aware that the Sanchez initiative to reduce class sizes in TUSD was a large part of what created the current vacancy problem? Is she not aware that filling vacancies has to be achieved before "class sizes" can be further reduced, and that in fact if the district cannot raise salaries enough to recruit qualified teachers for every classroom, less damage might be done by RAISING class sizes to get more children into classrooms with qualified teachers? Why is there no specific reference to the vacancy problem and how exactly it is being addressed in the interview above?

The local machine likes to find pretty, earnest young candidates to be its public face. To some of us who used to be earnestly SUPPORTIVE OF TUSD!!! and then ran smack into the reality of some institutionally embedded bad behaviors, this looks a lot like the latest example of the same old story.

Perhaps she will stop talking in platitudes and campaign slogans and start being clear about the real obstacles to the delivery of good education and how exactly they are being addressed.

We'll see.

Re: “A [Fill in the Blank] as the Democratic Presidential Candidate? I Guess Democrats Just Want to Lose.

Wasting time on politics again, I have to say, with stolen ballots with Russian trolls, money scandals of trumps used money to bribe, cut out the truth and buy his own votes, what idiot that is honest would go against Trump? The man is a spoiled brat kindergarten throwing a fit because he broke captain America doll and mommy wont buy him another one! He has no integrity, filter and lets not forget morales! So the rest of the candidates cheated... so the rest had a background, but nothing in comparison to Donald trump is it? Sure he has done some great just like others have too. But what do you expect people to stand face to face with Trump and measure up to the embarrassment of human being? Yes, I had hope that some one taller, smarter, a little better hair and with more money showed up! Anyone willing to take on trump is a hero in my mind. Because to end up with shaming name callings in public ridiculed and paid BS to steer the campaign to trumps favor, is a person with balls of steel! May the best man win, no I did not say may the man with more experience in cheating and more money, win. Democrats or Republicans...what ever you call yourself, I call you American... make America great again!

Did the last word professor mention Russia and how they stole the election?

It's really not a matter of how they lost, but why they lost.

Too bad the interviewer didn't say what Family Life curriculum is. Never heard of it.

Re: “Sahuarita Pecan Festival Cancelled, FICO Blames Global Tariffs

Bah, insurance companies blamed Obama-care when they jacked up rates and canceled policies after it passed. Turns out, that was just a convenient scapegoat for something they'd done for years.
I don't believe FICO anymore than I believe Aetna or Blue Cross.

Re: “A [Fill in the Blank] as the Democratic Presidential Candidate? I Guess Democrats Just Want to Lose.

I just watched last word and he had a professor on who studied the 2016 election and correctly called the 2018 election. Appealing to so called moderate republican women cost clinton 2 democrat votes for every moderate republican vote she picked up. 6 million democrats mostly black who voted in 2012 didn't vote in 2016 and another 1.5 million voted for jill stein. In detroit 70,000 democrats mostly black who vote didn't vote for president just down ballots hillary lost michigan by 10,000 votes. Selling a base candidate to moderates is a lot easier then trying to get the base to vote for a moderate. Biden talks about appealing to moderate republicans just as clinton did and again ignore black voters.

Re: “Danehy

To tctw: just as you can use a butter-knife as a screwdriver, you can use arms that were developed for the express purpose of killing humans to kill other animals, and you can certainly train with them at a gun range. That does not make said weapons appropriate for general use. And frankly, any serious hunter would far prefer a Remington .270 or Weatherby .340 over any AR-15, no matter how nicely modded, anytime, especially for hunting and target shooting.
