Re: “The Skinny

Poor AVL, #LyingAlly’s flying monkey boy to the bitter end.
Hope he’s still here for the I-11 ribbon cutting...

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Moo Trouble For Devin

Just revealed, Nunes did indeed go to Vienna, and maybe Ukraine, with Lev Parnas no less. This was revealed by phone calls and documents discovered in the Lev Parnas investigation. He lied so that Adam Schiff and his own committee wouldn't find out, according to sources. Can't wait to see Nunes subpoenaed by his own committee or the Judicial. The republican crying will be epic. Oh yeah, that lawsuit, Bwahaha.

Re: “Impeachment Update

I am so glad that Speaker Pelosi has decided to push impeachment proceedings. After watching the pointy headed academicians yesterday, the democrats, blinded by hate, are going to continue to make foolish mistakes. In the Senate trial we will get to hear Schiff, Pelosi and both Bidens testify under oath. Pop me some popcorn but at least one of the stupids is going to jail. They have just reelected Trump. Thanks a lot.

Re: “Where Have All The Teachers Gone? (Long Time Passing)

Not sure what to make of this article other than purchasing power and salaries have declined, housing costs have increased, for teachers ( as well as most blue collar jobs). It sucks , but are you a hero, a victim, or none of the above? How does having free will factor into it?

Re: “Movie Review: The Irishman

I mostly agree with your interview, but putting The wolf higher on your entertainment scale than this film is a misstep. The excesses of wall street trust funders, the performances of McConahey & Leonardo can't compare with a Hoffa scenario as performed with the dialogue, depth, silent looks, and acting chops of these 3 guys.

Re: “The Skinny

I agree AVL and respect your opinion. Ms Miller worked harder on our stinking roads than anybody there. I will miss her as everybody does not need to agree in lockstep, or you can see what we got with the Democrats in Congress. We must have some variety of thought. This paper could use some too.

Re: “Where Have All The Teachers Gone? (Long Time Passing)

I worked 12 months a year (for 50 years) to age 66 to qualify for a SS benefit of $1285 per month. I think it would help if everybody understood this benefit that you pay into for your entire working years. It would allow them to see the need for additional savings.

By the way what does the pension plan pay teachers after 25 years of service?

Re: “Where Have All The Teachers Gone? (Long Time Passing)

Yes, AZ does have a decent retirement system for county and state employees. It is not a gold mine, however, as some may try to make it out to be!!! I know, I am living on my teacher’s retirement right now and it’s not enough! I still work part time to make ends meet and pay for health care since I am not yet 65. The key is to a decent wage while working and a decent retirement when retired and neither is that decent. A balance should be found!!!!

Re: “The Skinny

True to form, the Weakly's editor publicly gloats when he perceives that the target of his years of bullying has given up. Just like the bully in the White House. That's how bullies are -- mean-spirited and nasty to the end. I do not share Ms. Miller's politics, and I don't live in her district, but I respect that she has been the lone voice challenging the deep-seated corruption in Pima County, saying a loud NO when the rest of the Board of Supervisors is kissing the County Administrator's butt. -- an appointed semi-dictator who is ruining good county departments by staffing them with incompetent cronies; who is -- like the editor -- vindictive to those whose challenge him; one of the highest-paid county administrators in the nation who has tried to double-tax us time and again; a hireling who has championed an Avra Valley Interstate 11 for years in violation of the elected BOS's own policies and gotten away with it, no matter the threats to communities and wildlife. No, cronies come first: the Cardon Family. Diamond Ventures. There was a time when the Weakly and other Tucson Local Media papers did their job and exposed the shenanigans instead of being sycophants. That was before the Weakly went "green," when it was still a real newspaper. Thank goodness the Independent and the Sentinel still provide some semblance of a free press.

If we want good candidates rather than the Millers and Trumps, reasonable people of both parties must vote in primaries.

Starting with a boycott of AZ to his open borders sanctuary city policies he has never represented southern Arizona. He represents Raul. Get rid of him ext election.

What an amazing record! She's obviously ready for greater things from her party, having ticked all the "crazy" boxes possible while a supervisor. On to new (R) frontiers!

Re: “Where Have All The Teachers Gone? (Long Time Passing)

Most people do not go into teaching with retirement in mind - at all. I would challenge anyone who resents a teacher's retirement plan to consider the decades and decades required to get by someday far, far in the future. The challenges (not to mention all the credentials and time required) for this public service have grown dramatically. And despite the demands, the overwhelming majority of working class teachers are really good people who show up every day motivated to do a good job working with other people's kids.

Re: “Where Have All The Teachers Gone? (Long Time Passing)

redlands? Nobody in CA can survive today if they don't earn 100K. And never own a home.

But in today's dollars the health insurance and retirement benefits are the key to why teachers do what they do. Retirement benefits are fantastic. That's where a large portion of TUSD budget ends up going, rather than the classroom. So in effect you are deriding the income of the newest generation of teachers.

403 and SS benefits make it pretty comfy.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Moo Trouble For Devin

Now this is funny!

Rep. Devin Nunes filed a defamation lawsuit Tuesday against CNN for its Nov. 22 “demonstrably false hit piece” that said the California Republican traveled to Vienna in 2018 to dig up dirt on former Vice President Joseph R. Biden.

“Devin Nunes did not go to Vienna or anywhere else in Austria in 2018,” declares the lawsuit seeking $435 million in damages. He said he visited two countries: Libya and Malta on a congressional delegation, or “codel.”-Washington Times

CNN again.
