Re: “Caviar Dreams

Tucson doesn't need another Flagstaff wanna be...especially with Obon within walking distance. There are so many good options in this town, and it's a shame that this column is usually wasted on obvious marketing that doesn't get very deep into the culinary mecca of Tucson.

Re: “Atomic Punk

Hey Nutritionist, why bag on the Frog when there's a McDonald's right there on the corner? The kids are bypassing McDonald's on the way to the Frog because the Frog serves good, unprocessed food. You should go complain about McDonald's embalmed mummy burgers instead, since you claim to be a "nutritionist".

Re: “Atomic Punk

I really liked the article and your comments about the family who owns it. If I was in Tucson, I would stop by there and check it out!! That does not mean I would eat there EVERY day

Re: “Atomic Punk

People need to stop being so critical about others opinions. Just because a restaurant has good ole fashioned yummy comfort food does not mean it's a bad place, or that you have to eat there every single day. Same as bars, they aren't for everyone and drinking too much is bad for you. That doesn't make bars bad. Every person in these United States have a right to their choice of food...and their opinions, that does not make every other persons choice of food wrong...and their opinions are just as justified as yours. If you don't like the Frogs food, don't go there. I don't like tofu, but I won't put you down because you do. You can disagree a little nicer, and show your children that being kind is number one, not criticizing other people's choice of food.

Re: “Atomic Punk

^It is also worth mentioning that the Atomic Frog has a couple healthier options for those who are looking for that. You can get a salad or a veggie burger with salad instead of fries, and im 100% sure they would customize anything on their menu to fit your needs. If you don't want that type of food, there's a Safeway in the same plaza where you can whatever food you're allowed to have.

Re: “Atomic Punk

@Current-Arizonan: thanks a lot! :)

@Nutritionist: See, that's the thing. You can teach your kid what healthy eating looks like, and once your kid turns 18, then it's nobody's business what s/he puts into his/her body except that kid. The buck stops with the parent in these sorts of situations, and if you acknowledge that that responsibility ultimately rests with you, then that's good. Atomic Frog is not here to act in loco parentis. They are here to serve people who want to eat their food, and those customers will decide what is in their own best interests. Tucson has a fun and diverse food scene. Atomic Frog is not the only game in town, so if you or your offspring want healthier options, you can always go to a restaurant that specializes in those choices, like Lovin' Spoonfuls, Govindas, Ha Long Bay, etc. Nobody's putting a gun to your head. People agree to disagree on food preferences all the time.

It is a private business that sells hamburgers and ice cream. This isn't the school cafeteria. Chill. The. Fuck. Out.

Re: “Atomic Punk

If I could teach and urge my teenage kid to refrain from eating the type of unhealthy food that this restaurant offers to neighborhood high school students, then my future adult kid would thank me for having been a responsible parent. A person such as the foul mouthed mom above, is the kind of parent whose obese and diabetic adult son or daughter might one day resent for encouraging and approving some extremely poor adolescent dietary choices.
