Re: “Big Fish

Ray "legend-in-your-own-mind" Flores , click on my name and scroll back through all my comments. It can be seen that every time The Weekly gave you free publicity with an article...I posted about your Rosemont mine support. This is nothing new and has indeed been going on for 7 years. If you as the self-described head of the company take a contentious public position, then expect whatever blow-back occurs.

In both your posts you still just coyly dance all around the subject . If you really don't want to hurt
"...our beloved So. AZ..." and have had a change of heart, then simply say you no longer support the Rosemont mine. It's that simple.

Re: “Big Fish

Hey Wise Guy, learn first that there are 2 Ray Flores in our family, but I run the company. When Rosemont first came around there were many uninformed opportunists who lumped people and brands together to gain PR attention. I can assure you, your entire bloodline couldnt have done a tenth of what my family has done for this community and economy so if there was something said 7 years ago in support of something unknown, then I will take it back, but thats where it ends and I begin. I dont support anything that could hurt our beloved So. AZ and I dont appreciate people like you who decide nows the time to reach out when you could have done so 7 years ago.

Re: “Big Fish

Seek and destroy crowd is at it again. They are the bullies that used to complain about bullying. Stop destroying the economic base of Tucson and Pima County for one persons beliefs. Are they teaching this in school and somehow I missed it?

People are entitled to their opinions but why do you feel the need to try to financially destroy everybody?

Ray Flores wrote: "I have no official position on the Rosemont mine ...". That is a lie, Ray.

In 2012 Rosemont copper posted a website that included a section headed, "Below is a partial list of the Businesses, Professional Organizations. City Councils and Chambers of Commerce that have come out in support of Rosemont Copper:"

El Charro Restaurants is included in that list.

Shortly after posting the above list Rosemont decided it wasn't a good idea because they were providing the opposition a handy list of businesses to boycott and the list was removed from the website.

However, on 2/23/2012 I happened to download a hard copy of that list which I still have in my possession. It's there in black & white. At least have the balls to be honest about your support.

Re: “Big Fish

Mr. Flores - I'm a huge fan, and regular customer, at all venues of your franchise. I am also a big opponent of Rosemont Mine and the environmental (and economic) devastation it will inflict on Tucson. If you're interested, the documentary named "Flin Flon Flim Flam" traces the criminal conduct of Hudbay in Canada, Guatemala and Peru. You can find it on Netflix or Casa Video. It's a must-see for all Tucsonans who care about our future. Thanks for all that you do to energize our culinary scene.

Re: “Big Fish

We've been to El Charro del Rey twice and enjoyed it both times. I was a bit skeptical about getting good quality seafood in Tucson but I was proven wrong. We've tried the shrimp cocktail and it was excellent - very fresh, large, firm and well-chilled shrimp with a spicy cocktail sauce. Their salmon was quite good as well. However, my favorite (ordered it both times there) was the Mussels Borrachos - mussels in a spicy broth with bits of chorizo for added flavor. That broth is just flat out delicious and I couldn't stop eating it. My compliments to the servers, too. They are always pleasant and helpful.

Re: “Big Fish

I have no official position on the Rosemont mine as I have no real education on the subject matter, if science says its a disaster than it shouldnt be built but if the gain to the economy outweighs those concerns than good for them. Otherwise, I have zero real opinion because Im not versed enough to make a claim otherwise. However, mr wise-guy, Im down to meet you anytime so you can educate me and I can teach you that trying to hurt me only hurts many good hardworking people that we create jobs for.

This is a reminder that Ray Flores is a public supporter of the environmental disaster known as the Rosemont mine. If like me you spend your money eco-conscious friendly... just say "No Bueno oysters Flores".

Re: “Food For Cause

You might want to do an update - they just closed all stores in AZ but still have a Falls Event Center in AZ. This is a massive criminal fraud. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/saga-steve-down-frauds-drawing-conclusion-jw-millegan/?published=t&fbclid=IwAR29LLqZJvBYn9SjZMFEjUqoHAN7twkKnUFcrhDVShO8PIIlaZUXE0Y6rsY

Re: “Homegrown Comeback

Gary Nabhan's article makes me even prouder to be a Tucsonan. Special praise to Michael McDonald and his team at the Community Food Bank for keeping many in southern Arizona from hunger.

Re: “Killer Brews: Serial Grillers gets Crafty

I was excited about this place but the ambiance and crowd are kinda weak. It is definitely not on the same level as Hop Shop, T&B, or Casa Film Bar.. I am sure they will make changes over time to improve the atmosphere and hopefully the crowd but for now, my friends and I were very disappointed and won't be going back.

Re: “Killer Brews: Serial Grillers gets Crafty

This is a great place. I love how you can get almost any size of any style beer. Other places restrict you to a crucible of certain beers while still charging outrageously, which is total nonsense. But, it's the trendy thing to do as the other places try to convince you how sophisticated you are by not having a full pint. However, at Craft, you can usually get the 5/10/13/16oz of all their taps, at a reasonable price. It's a wonderful change!

Jeff Gardner has only written a few articles. Give him a break, he's new. Hope he sticks to it and finds his groove.

Dear TW editor,

Similar to movie, art, music etc, please publish food reviews which provide the basic details about a local restaurant. This article offers very little.

Who, what, where, when, why. Basic journalism.

Thanks,
Hungry Reader

Cool, but how's the food?

Also...address, hours, prices, drinks etc? Poor excuse for a review.
