Re: “A Box Full of Trouble

So like Leo... picture of an Airstream ... Leo sees a double wide. Kind of like how he sees the borderlands...

Re: “Creepy and Kooky

Mike Padilla is actually the Music Director AND the Conductor for THE ADDAMS FAMILY - A NEW MUSICAL. Monte Ralstin is the Music Supervisor for the production, in addition to playing the role of Uncle Fester. Ralstin is the Music Director for the Theatre program. It can be confusing, but because he had an onstage role in ADDAMS...Ralstin just acted as Music Supervisor for this musical.

Re: “Mid-Century Madness

It looks like there's a couple that is restoring one of Tom Gist's mid-century houses here in Tucson and is blogging about it...I wonder if they will be featured on the home tour.

Re: “Checkpoint Trauma

I always have a good day 'smile and wave'. Especially after being exonerated in court like I have every time one of CBP's minions has tried to do CBP's dirty work for them.

How many times have your buddies tried and failed now? I'm starting to lose count. You could ask the TOPD though, they may know.

While you're at it, why don't you tell everyone why deputies with the PCSD hang out at the CBP roadblock along SR-86 'smile and wave'. I know I'm looking forward to telling the judge why....

Re: “Checkpoint Trauma

Checkpoint USA....you are an idiot! You just provoke and when you get put on your place, you cry. Why don't you tell everyone about how you've been arrested by PCSO for your idiotic acts? You are not an activist, you are just ignorant. Have a good day. :)

Re: “Checkpoint Trauma

The CBP roadblock located along SR-86 just outside Three Points, AZ first became a fixture along the highway in January of 2008. It's pretty much been operated 24/7 365 days a year ever since. I've recorded every compelled interaction I've had at the roadblock since it's inception - we ll over 600 and counting at this stage. One of my earlier interactions took place on January 8, 2008 and can be viewed at:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6uw7506xMw

Before January 2008, the roadblock had been setup a few times for brief periods. Once on April 15, 2005. See:

http://roadblockrevelations.org/DHS/DHSroadblock.htm

and again on November 12, 2006.

I've been to court multiple times over the years regarding my roadblock encounters and will again in the near future.

Re: “Checkpoint Trauma

I am a white middle aged woman. I had an agent follow me to a gate on my private property and threaten to pull me out of the window of my truck. I can not imagine the fear and emotional damage these assholes inflict on children with brown skin. The whole situation is beyond disgusting.

Re: “Checkpoint Trauma

I taught out in Sells for a couple of years. I remember asking my class once how many of them had been stopped and had secondary inspections at the checkpoint. Every single hand went up. I told them that I never had and that the officers always looked shocked if my husband was with me and we told them he wasn't a citizen, because we are about as white as you can get. As I went through with clear sailing time after time and my students' families were pulled over time after time, it just began to feel very very wrong.

And I'll say hi to Sebastian, because I suspect I taught him a couple summers ago. :)

Re: “Checkpoint Trauma

We absolutely should have strong immigration enforcement. We as citizens have the right to determine who comes to this country and how many.
That said, the checkpoints are for Nazis. They should be torn down immediately. They're disgusting as well as racist.

Re: “Storming the Wall

You honestly think Santa Cruz and Pima counties are exempt from the climate? This is all happening at lightning speed.

Re: “Storming the Wall

We in Tucson may see a whole lot of immigrants from Phoenix long before more Latin Americans arrive in 2050. The heat-fatality bell curve up north is getting increasingly broad. Before, only Maricopa County's kids and old folks -- people with little political clout, and often without access to air-conditioning -- died from extreme heat. Now that Maricopa's heat is regularly rising into the higher (often fatal) three digits, and because running A/C (which, incidentally, releases more heat and climate-change gases into the air) is becoming more expensive, people in the middle ranks of society (by age and income) will begin suffering heat-related symptoms including fatal heatstroke. A whole lot of people -- possibly in the millions, certainly in the hundreds of thousands -- will be high-tailing it to our relatively cooler climes in Pima and Santa Cruz Counties. There'll be no border guards or a wall to protect us from this internal migration, unless we deploy a Grapes of Wrath strategy completely alien to our Borderlands culture. What are We going to do with all of Them? Where will they live? How will they earn livings? How do we accommodate yet more traffic? And how do we protect our Borderlands culture from awful, intolerant religious and racist influences that many of the immigrants will bring with them, influences that resulted in Sheriff Joe's lengthy tenure, that sustain the reactionary Goldwater Institute and related kook lobbies, and that pay the lion's share of Republican campaign expenses in Arizona? We have some planning to do, and soon!

Re: “Storming the Wall

I appreciate converting the numbers to Fahrenheit so Americans can understand just how devastating climate change is going to be. But I think this conversion is a wee bit off: 5 degree Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit) .
5 degrees C is 9 degrees F.

Re: “Stolen Goods

I wonder how that couple got that painting? And why was it behind the bedroom door?

Re: “Stolen Goods

Real investigative journalism would have turned up more of the story. Is the delay just for the FBI to check the fingerprints on the painting?
