I was one of the young musicians, just starting out that was allowed to put a small sum of money down (I think it was $20) and make payments long ago. I purchased my first bass, a head and a cabinet from them. I eventually went on to play in bands that were on indie and major labels. I got to tour and play shows with bands I listened to and admired growing up. I no longer play in bands, but I still have the head unit they sold me. Thank you Chicago Store!
Man oh man...the stuff they had upstairs in the "attic". Just piles and piles of music stuff. I found my John Lennon style Rickenbacker guitar up there. Still have it. Nice and fixed up.
Love the Chicago Store! They are the spirit of Tucson. I will miss the rafter piled cool stuff, but needs must.
Pena was good but he was never the same after what happened in that van in germany. That is my two cents worth.
Awesome article. Having worked with Danehy at the AZ Daily Wildcat and Lopez at KTUC makes it even sweeter. Two great great guys.
My mom and her husband met at the Boondocks more than 15 years ago, they even had their wedding reception there.
I rather hear my children dieing screams than your music
Mark I hate your music it gave me cancer
I'll be there!
Anything that goes against the AZ gubner but is for women and their right to choose works for me. Thanks for the information. DC
Ann rules! One of the few people who can cover Stairway to Heaven and not make Robert Plant cringe. Believe me & Monsieur Plant, that is an amazing accomplishment.
Monterrey Court & a lot of the downtown places make facebook events for all the acts they have coming thru. Love it or hate it, it reaches a lot of people, fast...
AVOID the retards at COSMIC VINYL (http://www.cosmicvinylrecords.com/). 5 month turn-around for 4 records, zero communication (except to lie about order delays). GARBAGE SERVICE.
If you haven't seen Mitzi Cowell perform at the Boondocks you are in for a real treat. Mitzi is just one of several outstanding local musicians who play great music at this long time venue.
We need to buy it. I wonder how to do this properly. Check it out.
It'd be fun to see it featured in a turn around from Gordon Ramsey.
Might want to include the location in the article for us young ones.
They need to advertise more. Promote the music scene like Monterrey Court does. The fish fry there is one of the best, if not the best , in town. Yet so few people know about it.
Bang your own drum, louder. Contact all the media and let them know about what's happening at this great spot!
I am a huge fan of the boondocks! I'd hate to see them go.
