Of course, Southern Arizona has always stood in full support of illegal immigration.

@JCC, a commenter named Jay Dub posted the following on the article you linked to: "A minimal valuation of human life may be a common factor between mass shooters and people violent toward womenand I think thats a good correlation to drawbut to pretend that misogyny is the cause or catalyst for his actions doesnt pass a smell test." I think that's a sensible evaluation.

Re: “Atomic Punk

If you don't like it, you don't have to eat there. And it's the responsibility of the kids' parents to make sure that they eat a healthy diet overall. Don't be like one of those Adbusters posters that blames the existence of Absolut vodka for alcoholism.

In case you haven't heard, it's a free country, and individuals can take responsibility for their own health and the health of their families.

Re: “No Thanks, Trump

It doesn't matter what they are opposed to, if the president wants and succeeds in actually building this wall, their point is moot. Perhaps if they thought as highly of natural born American citizens rather than the law breaking illegal border crossers, they would be applauded!

Francis. I don't understand your obsession with PRESIDENT Trump. He speaks highly of you. Plus I'm sure he's very impressed with all the big words you use.

Maybe there should be a Northern Poverty Law Center group that investigates left wing hate groups. Could that be a money maker? They could call it the bandana bunch.

First time I met him was at a merit commission meeting in 1982 and he had a bowl haircut and looked like Peter Lorre.

skinnyman - He was hard-core socialist liberal who belonged to several hate groups who chose to specifically target Republicans and who was at least partially encouraged to do so because of the non-stop anti-Trump hate speech and murderous imagery that you and yours can't seem to stop spewing. The "tolerant" "civil" left are master manipulators of the weak minded "victims" that they create and one of your soldiers took the bait. Own it. No one is buying the spin.

Re: “Trial Over TUSD's Mexican American Studies to Begin in Tucson June 26

A publicly funded school system in a democracy should present the history of political parties in the U.S. and how they evolved, as well as a representative sampling of ideas from all parts of the political spectrum and the thinkers who have influenced different political camps. Once that has been done, it should be up to students to form their own opinions. "This is the Republican Party platform. This is the Democratic Party platform. This is how Libertarians differ from Republicans. This is how Greens differ from Democrats. This is what Adam Smith thought. This is what Karl Marx thought. This is what Milton Friedman thought. This is what Joseph Stiglitz thinks. Which do you find most persuasive? Why? Write a position paper and explain what you think. Participate civilly in debates with classmates who think differently.

That would be educating citizens effectively for constructive participation in a democracy, keeping in mind that the families utilizing public schools have many different political affiliations and none of them should find themselves in a position where their children are evaluated at school based on whether or not they are willing to "convert" to a different political camp.

Were there different points of view presented in this curriculum and were students allowed to form their own opinions and beliefs? Or was one monolithic point of view promoted as the correct one? They read Marx and Freire? OK. Who else did they read? How were Marx and Freire presented? We hear different things from different people writing in the media and comment streams. Lots of strong opinions on both sides, lots of shrill rhetoric.

Is there a copy of this curriculum and its reading list available somewhere for the public to review?
