Re: “Danehy

"Donald Trump has looked like the world leader we have been waiting for."

Well, I wouldn't call you a racist as CW13 predicted. I will say that the last paragraph of your comment has to be the stupidest thing that I've read on this site in a while though. Quite the opposite of "Brilliant, simply brilliant!" in fact.

Re: “Hispanic Chamber applauds Ducey education, business efforts

"Those kids can take a $5,400 debit card out of their local district school and take it with them to a private school," Farley said.

Sorry Farley, but you only did half the math. there is a $5400 credit to the school expenses that loses the child. It is a net zero sum gain. Less students equals less teachers equals lower payroll and matching taxes and benefits thus fewer buildings.

Please try to tell the whole story next time.

What is the likelihood of an override vote in the Legislature?

Re: “Danehy

Yeah that's what the ultra left does, and once again it wouldn't be true. But at this point, when confronted with facts, it is all they have.

Re: “Crop Conundrum

Field conditions are what they are. Farm work is what it is. Just how does Bslap propose to improve working conditions? I worked the fields as a kid, picking strawberries, hoeing the fields, cleaning the barns. If he thinks he can find "Americans" at any price willing to do that work, he is smoking some weird stuff.

I am not a fan of giving illegals an easy path to citizenship, as they are here illegally, but the H2A visa system is necessary and needs to be expanded.

Re: “The Skinny

This city has far too many government employees for a Republican to win. Funny thing is that our roads are proof of it.

Sounds like the guy was scrambled, cracked under pressure and then wound up with egg on his face. No yoke. They are going to fry him if he doesn't keep the sunny side up. Given enough time he will come out of his shell.

Re: “Danehy

Is it possible that rather than attempting to judge "unspoken" thoughts, that you entertain the possibility that you are a flawed low information voter?

After 8 years of Obama one could list all the failures that were so ignored by you, because of his skin color. This thing cuts both ways. Why not adhere to MLK's "I have a dream" where you judge people on the content of their character?"

Here is a great place to start your rehab, from 2014.

By now, nearly five and a half years into the Obama presidency, objective people can draw reasonable conclusions, among which are these: Barack Obama was among the least prepared men to ever serve as presidency. It shows. He has been overmatched by events right from the start. He is an excellent campaigner but unusually inept when it comes to governing.

By temperament and experience, based on skill set and ability, Mr. Obama is much better equipped to be a community organizer than to be president of the United States.

For the sake of our nation and much of the world, I wish he had stayed on Chicagos South Side.

And then you must admit, this past week Donald Trump has looked like the world leader we have been waiting for. Brilliant, simply brilliant!

Don't count on it. However, I'll give Tom this much. Putney Swope was a great movie. One of the best satires ever. " How many syllables, Mario? How many syllables?"

DHIM: Thanks for the correction on the year Steve K. first won the Ward 6 seat. I've fixed it. I miss Dan Huff, too.

Re: “The Skinny

Kozachik beat Nina Trasoff in 2009 not 2011. The third contest this year is in Ward 5, which the Weekly failed to even reference again in an article. Nintzel should get an F in his journalism class at the U of A for such errors.

Re: “Crop Conundrum

"it's that they don't want to work, or at least work for us" -- raise wages. Improve working conditions, etc. You'll then find plenty of workers. Americans will work, but not in godawful conditions for slave wages.

If you give illegals a "path to citizenship" then they aren't going to want to work at the stinky chicken farm and you'll have to import another 12 million illegal aliens to work for your slave wages.

Re: “The Skinny

What a bunch of clowns. Mariano Rodriguez is too busy to talk to the Tucson Weekly and doesn't call them back. Republican Party chairman David Eppihimer says Watson isn't a true "Republican" because he supported a sales tax hike to pay for cops, fire and road repair. So much for the large tent the republicans keep saying they have. I guess keeping Tucson shitty and cheap is more important than protecting its citizens. For some people I guess $3/month per person is too much for proper police and fire protection. But hey, if the bonds had passed last year all this would be moot.

Re: “Danehy

If they were it wouldn't match the hate and ignorance portrayed in the article. Is it not enough to realize Clinton is a flawed candidate? That's why they torpedoed Sanders.

Too bad Lent doesn't last longer.
