Re: “LGBT and Latino

Hey Critter, I'm what some might call "ultra conservative", but no, I'm not going to contradict your statements or try to make you feel less than human. Deep down, we're all just regular Joes trying to find happiness in this life just being ourselves. I hope you find yours.

Re: “LGBT and Latino

Im real happy for you. You were very fortunate that it turned out to your favor. I however unfortunate. My few attempts at hinting had my mom in tears and my dad in an it was all catastropic when I was younger. Of course with an ultra conservative republican catholic family it's to be expected. I'm much older now and of course I have to be in the closet with family and job. I guess I would have to wait til my dad passes away for me to maybe just maybe open up again to family.

My mom works at a library in a college and they see day in and day out all sorts of people and a lot of homosexuals. Hopefully after all these years she will understand and be more open better.

I personally have no interest in the whole "fem" thing..more power to you. I just see myself as the regular masculine "joe" and just want to be like anyone else. No special rights no nothing just myself. I'm sure some ultra conservative closed minded person is going to try to have a say contrary to allt his though so I thought I'd post first.

Re: “Paper Marriage

Thanks for the comprehensive article. Opponents talk about "special rights" for gays, but it's really equal rights that are under discussion.

Re: “Paper Marriage

I grew up in Alabama during the 50's and 60's. Look up any story on discrimination back then; replace Negro with gay, and you will have today's news. Look up comments by Klan members about why Negros don't deserve equal rights; change Negro to gay, and you will have the same comments being expressed by "conservatives" today. Go back ever further and read why Negros should not be allowed to serve in the military, and you will find the same reasons being given against repealing "don't ask, don't tell", by congressional candidates,in the Weekly this week.

Re: “Paper Marriage

I could never figure out why hospitals have such restrictive rules when dealing w/ domestic partners. They forget that gay couples, like any other patient, are PAYING CUSTOMERS. Why the hell would I give an entity that discriminates against my partner being present my business? That's a very bad business model. That goes for any other entity that wants my gay $$$. We should at least have a civil union option w/ all the benefits of marriage in AZ, I believe that would pass at the ballot box.

Re: “Paper Marriage

This is another example of why Gay Marriage needs to be past. It's just legalized discrimination. If Afro American or other minorites would need to pay around two thousand dollars for a marige liscense . The civil liberties unions would jump on that case. yelling discrimination. Or Let the goverment pay the $ two thousand dollar fees that we have to pay for legal fees for partial benefits which need to be changed in most states . Where as a fifty dollar Marriage liscense gives one those rights in all states.

Re: “Womyn's Land

I'm really looking forward to seeing this project when completed. As the daughter of one of the filmmakers I've been blessed by being able to hear about it since its infancy, and it's very exciting.

Re: “Demanding Equality

To Teresa and Shari.. Two women that I know and respect! Not only are you a wonderful couple, but you are fantastic parents. It's such a shame to have to fight this battle for what should already be your given rights, but you make me so proud watching your courage and determination to live your truth. I love you both and wish you the best.. All of us do! :0)
Sincerely, your cove family xoxo
