Skinnyman, you're alive and free.

I can't wait for the Weekly to publish a pro Christian piece.

As is yours for you see when the US took action against aggressors they were being stopped from killing. Moral relativity is even worse. They are not equal.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Dear DAZ,

The United States military and intelligence leviathan has destroyed more of this earth in the past 60 years than all other nations and actors combined. Your apparent moral exceptionalism is profoundly ignorant, not to mention offensive.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Not really impressed with this weak commentary at all.
What about the destruction by ISIS or whoever is killing fellow Muslims-Christians -Jews , etc. When they blow up something aren't they also damaging the Earth, and everything that "Allah" created?
How about some references from the Torah and Bible to help with the 'Interfaith' dialog?

Can he accomplish his "faith" without involving government? Remember that separation thing you guys always talk about? Can't have it both ways. Can you find it in the USC?

Re: “Guest Opinion

" finalized a rule to improve enforcement of existing laws to keep guns out of the hands of people with severe mental illness who are already prohibited from having guns"
There are already laws in place dealing with people that have severe mental problems being restricted from having guns, they must be declared incompetent by a judge not some flunky in a civil service job. The misdirection here that removing this power to abrogate second amendment rights from all except a judge is disingenuous. You don't like guns, I get that but so long as the second amendment is there you don't get to ignore it.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Flake is an embarrassment to Arizona. His Duck-horse question at the current SCOTUS hearings was a slap in the face of Arizonans who actually care what a Supreme Court Justice thinks.

Re: “Guest Opinion

To the boneheads who think this was the right thing to do. First, if you had a clue who the 75K SSA recipients were and how they were treated, you might understand. SSA finds out that someone is not taking care of themselves, investigates, then goes to court to have a Conservator appointed as the individuals have proven not to be able to take care of everyday business, such as paying rent, buying food, keeping themselves clean and healthy. Their funds are then put in the hands of the Conservator who is required to report how the money is used. To put guns in the hands of someone declared incapable of handling day to day living simply belies common sense much less the implications of legal responsibility should these individuals commit a crime. These are not the hundreds of thousands of disabled on SSA benefits, but a small portion of the whole.
Further, the same is true of Veterans Administration beneficiaries with mental illnesses. So, what Flake is saying is that it is OK to have someone with mental illnesses such as PTSD of such severity that a representative payee is appointed to be able to own guns. Do you want someone like that next door with your children running amok outside? Again, this is a small subset of veterans receiving benefits.

Re: “Guest Opinion

So much misrepresentation, hyperbole, and blatant falsehoods in this article that I will not lower myself to try and respond point by point.

However, this kind of hit piece is to be expected from the left.

Do I like Flake? No, for many reasons. But he got this vote right.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Thank you for this Pat, it beggars belief that a public servant such as he is can be such a blatant hypocrite and not be called out on it more widely. Ridiculous too that there should be any support for these repeals of sensible laws.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Unfortunately, the trolls are at it again. Do they actually ever consider engaging in serious discussion with fellow citizens about issues. (That question is rhetorical. No response expected.)
Steve K. is what used to be considered a moderate Republican. (I believe he switched to Democrat because his party was so unwelcoming of any moderate views.) Even though I am left of center, I support Steve. He is always well informed and is responsive to his constituency.

Re: “Guest Opinion

The Green Party candidate for Pima County attorney (me) didn't fundraise, asked supporters to donate to the causes they cared about, and refused to put up signs. That was back in 2016. But as a woman, I'm pretty used to having a man take credit for doing something I've done. #thatswhatshesaid #hesaiditsotheyheardit

Re: “Guest Opinion

My greyhounds and I will follow Steve K. anywhere. He was a one man band like a dog to a bone in pointing the finger at the Tucson Greyhound Park atrocities. Mercifully, that hell hole ended live dog racing on June 25, 2016. And for that I'm thankful as I'm sure are the 252 dogs that left the track and went into adoptive homes. Another 150 or so went to racing servitude elsewhere and some went to an Orange County blood bank as blood donating captives for 1 or 2 years.

Steve also has common sense regarding guns, the Broadway expansion and bringing more movie and TV filming into Pima County to fill our hotels, restaurants and economy.

He's got my vote.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Civility and respect. Actually listening to ideas even if they are contrary to your stated beliefs. Working hard to understand the issues and find reasonable solutions. Producing results that benefit the community at large, not just one segment of it. Being accessible and engaging in active problem-solving. Not being afraid to try out new approaches. These are attributes that make Steve K one of the best political leaders in Arizona. In a democracy, the government is us. If we do not choose our political leaders well, it is our own fault. Steve K is a good leader and a forward thinker. Thanks for the hard work and let's see if this idea of winning elections based on the job instead of the personality will take hold.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Walking the talk in this way is courageous and will surely win you a good deal of support, Steve. The comment above about Judy Burns made by Mark Stegeman is well taken. Many, many voters are sick and tired of the money in politics; you are showing the way.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Wrong, Again:

Relax snowflake.

Just change your Pampers and everything will be fine.

When you start typing things that are condescending, inconsiderate and just plain nasty...your nonsense posts may actually be removed. If you could learn (*trying real hard to keep from laughing*) to be nice (*chuckle*) all your posts would probably stay intact. People with a sliver of common sense might actually pay attention to your solid information (*HA HA HA HA HA! Oops, so sorry.*) if you just, you know, toned your misplaced anger down a bit.

Good luck with that. You're gonna need it.
