Re: “No Thanks, Trump

It doesn't matter what they are opposed to, if the president wants and succeeds in actually building this wall, their point is moot. Perhaps if they thought as highly of natural born American citizens rather than the law breaking illegal border crossers, they would be applauded!

Francis. I don't understand your obsession with PRESIDENT Trump. He speaks highly of you. Plus I'm sure he's very impressed with all the big words you use.

Maybe there should be a Northern Poverty Law Center group that investigates left wing hate groups. Could that be a money maker? They could call it the bandana bunch.

First time I met him was at a merit commission meeting in 1982 and he had a bowl haircut and looked like Peter Lorre.

skinnyman - He was hard-core socialist liberal who belonged to several hate groups who chose to specifically target Republicans and who was at least partially encouraged to do so because of the non-stop anti-Trump hate speech and murderous imagery that you and yours can't seem to stop spewing. The "tolerant" "civil" left are master manipulators of the weak minded "victims" that they create and one of your soldiers took the bait. Own it. No one is buying the spin.

Re: “Trial Over TUSD's Mexican American Studies to Begin in Tucson June 26

A publicly funded school system in a democracy should present the history of political parties in the U.S. and how they evolved, as well as a representative sampling of ideas from all parts of the political spectrum and the thinkers who have influenced different political camps. Once that has been done, it should be up to students to form their own opinions. "This is the Republican Party platform. This is the Democratic Party platform. This is how Libertarians differ from Republicans. This is how Greens differ from Democrats. This is what Adam Smith thought. This is what Karl Marx thought. This is what Milton Friedman thought. This is what Joseph Stiglitz thinks. Which do you find most persuasive? Why? Write a position paper and explain what you think. Participate civilly in debates with classmates who think differently.

That would be educating citizens effectively for constructive participation in a democracy, keeping in mind that the families utilizing public schools have many different political affiliations and none of them should find themselves in a position where their children are evaluated at school based on whether or not they are willing to "convert" to a different political camp.

Were there different points of view presented in this curriculum and were students allowed to form their own opinions and beliefs? Or was one monolithic point of view promoted as the correct one? They read Marx and Freire? OK. Who else did they read? How were Marx and Freire presented? We hear different things from different people writing in the media and comment streams. Lots of strong opinions on both sides, lots of shrill rhetoric.

Is there a copy of this curriculum and its reading list available somewhere for the public to review?

Yes I have one. Who killed all the cops last summer?

And I thought of a second one.

If all guns were outlawed, how would angry, violent people kill?

Re: “Gabby Giffords: Today's Congressional Shooting 'Is an Attack on All Who Serve and on All Who Participate in our Democracy'

Here's the only thing you really need to know about this shooter: HE WAS AN ANGRY, VIOLENT WHITE MAN WITH GUNS.

And that places him in the most common demographic of mass shooter and the most common demographic of terrorist in this country. Angry, violent white men with guns pick all sorts of things to inflame and target their rage. Sure, this guy supported Bernie, but most of them are drawn to Tchump (because he speaks their language and purposely exploits their rage), but this really is not an issue of left or right. It's an issue of angry, violent white men with guns. This guy had a history of violence and irresponsible gun use, yet he was still armed to the teeth. THAT is the problem--not political parties or uncivil rhetoric or TV shows or anything else but that.

Any questions??

Just think and we throw away over half the food produced. Hire more H2A visa workers to grow more food to throw away now that is American democratic logic right there.

Ever see George Carlin and is routine on STUFF ? Americans need to get more house to get more stuff. Then when you get to much you rent room to store yourself stuff.

What the story didn't tell is Dole sold out all operations in Yuma to a Chinese firm ITOCHU. It is this firm that set the world price and market distribution of winter Lettuce.

Think you're pissed off now? Wait until next week when the Bored of Stupidvisors votes to give $2,000 of our tax dollars to some humane borders group to refill water jugs for people sneaking into the country. Even if we could afford it ( which we can't), that's nothing more than aiding and abetting. These stooges need to be ousted. Just don't hold your breath.

Re: “No Thanks, Trump

Lets boycott all products sold in United States that are produced in Mexico. Lets boycott travel to Mexico. Stop giving hand outs (as aid) to Mexico. How many Mexican troops and police are on the border stopping illegals from crossing the border? The answer is 0. Send all illegals back to there beloved country Mexico. Stop giving medical aid to illegals crossing the border. Americans where are you? I had enough. Lets protest just like the Mexicans do. Can they protest there Gov in Mexico? 99 % of all illegals in this USA are from Mexico. Lets form a protest movement. Our gov needs to do more about this illegal issue. Re: “Gabby Giffords: Today's Congressional Shooting 'Is an Attack on All Who Serve and on All Who Participate in our Democracy'

JCC - How can you say that it's not a Democratic or Republican thing when he specifically asked people before the shooting whether there were Democrats or Republicans on the field after stalking the field previously? Do you honestly think that, given his documented history for hating "Trump and Co." (his words) and belonging to a group called Terminate Trump that he would have shot Democrats? This was a premeditated, politically motivated act and all the spin in the world to deflect blame from the recent spate of high-profile, well-publicized Trump assassination fantasies can't change the facts.

Re: “Trial Over TUSD's Mexican American Studies to Begin in Tucson June 26

This has to qualify as one of the most meaningless trials in history. Contrary to your story, TUSD was never under any obligation to dismantle MAS. What they had an obligation to do and what they were given time to do was to clean it up and publicly adopt a curriculum at the board level.

Is this judge really going to give them permission to violate state law again and reestablish a program without school board review and school board control of the curriculum? Allow outside entities to control lesson plans? Allow teaching to go in classrooms that disappeared when the auditors showed up? If you are proud of what you are doing, display it to the world.

It the community really going to be comfortable with what was going on in those classrooms? These weren't ethnic studies, these were European studies, a guy by the name of Marx. Every single one of the books, all of Paulo Freire works was simply a Marxian framework applied to all social situations and racial relations. As one obviously talented girl who testified in the Senate "I never knew I was oppressed until I took this class". Where is that framework going to take her in life? No place healthy. It is a philosophy of hate.

It's toxic and Central and South America are deeply in its grip. Their murder rate is 10 times that of the United States and they have very little prosperity. We have a different philosophy in the United States best summed up by the great coach John Wooden "Time spent getting even is better spent getting ahead."

For conservatives, this trial is a no lose situation. Even if we lose the trial, we will have a permanent example of why liberals can't be trusted to run so much as a lemonade stand. Bringing the MAS controversy back will cause a few hundred TUSD students of the 47 thousand to consume the time of the next TUSD superintendent almost certainly causing another leadership failure, further incite the destructive factions on the board and hasten the destruction of TUSD already down 14,000 students since 2000.

That might make for exciting politics but it will not make a good outcome for Arizona or Tucson.

Re: “Gabby Giffords: Today's Congressional Shooting 'Is an Attack on All Who Serve and on All Who Participate in our Democracy'

The shooter had a history of violence against women, which often precedes mass shootings. This is not a Democratic or Republican thing, violence is neutral with respect to political orientation - it has been embraced by adherents of all political orientations. https://thinkprogress.org/mass-shooting-do…
