....and the lawns cut by them, and the children raised by them, and the homes cleaned by them, and the produce picked by them, and the companies and individuals who profit from them, and the contributions their US-born children have made as citizens, and so on...

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

How can you call it a debate with 15 million in your front yard? The good of the nation is addressed through LEGAL immigration. Those waiting have been abused by cheaters.

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

These attempts to portray illegal immigrants as 'bad people' is not only wrong, but it poisons the whole debate which should be about immigration levels and the good of the nation as a whole.

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

Donald Trump hates criminals. All races of criminals. I have always wondered about Mexicans begrudging successful Mexicans. It has always been that way. I thought it was because they thought I made it to easily.

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

Paul, if you really think this started with Obama or even became worse as a result of something he did, you shouldn't be allowed to own a computer, pen, paper, or even a functioning set of vocal cords. That's just waaaay too much perspective lacking, there.

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

If that Cook can come to Texas?, He will see other Mexicans working here "BUT!<" They are from Texas and have a green card to work. But What many restaurants are wanting are Chefs that have imagination and creations that will get people talking around town and of course the Food Critics. Aside from that.. I do admit there are illegals trying to get into many places and those places are on the low end of businesses that are very small and do a mediocre business in the food industry. The rest of the Illegals work in the housing doing clean ups to framing to floors or car repairs. They are all trying to gain what they cant get in Mexico. Keep in mind there are many other types of Illegals in Texas like people from Canada, India, China, Japan, Brazil, Honduras and the ones that we never get to speak to because they will never speak to you unless you look like them "People from Africa" Its a load of people .. but as for the Chef? He can be assure there are many places searching for that one individual willing to go over the top.

He can thank obamanation that it would do good to report these guys and yes I blame illegals for our low wages because they will work for next to nothing.

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

Let me handle this Gustavo.

Her's what you do Angie. You organize a contest to draw cartoon caricatures of the biggest baddest bikers that you can find. Then you get on TV and challenge the bikers to come down and try and stop you.

Just wait until you see what happens.

P.S. (That's post scripto for something I forgot) Better order a new shirt for your new husband.

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

When I lived in Venezuela my wife and I went to a theater and watched Return of the Living Dead. We got looks from the rather small number of other patrons because we were laughing hysterically at the dubbed dialogue which was horribly translated. Just about the only thing they got right was, "Sesos!"

Looks like a production error led to the wrong column being printed. We've got the updated version above now!

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

You're all correct that it would be helpful to have translations, but Gustavo is almost certainly not reading this, as his column is syndicated from his home paper which is the Orange County Weekly.

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

For us Gringos, it would be nice to have the definitions of the Spanish words you use.

Re: “Ask a Mexican!

Whose response is "flippant"? The person that points out that all people have endured struggles going back through history? Or the person that insinuates that the struggles of another people are inferior to that of their own? Modern archeology has established that humans (European and possibly African) were in North America before what we now call "Native" Americans arrived. I hope we can focus on the acceptance of our fellow humankind and not on forms of one-upmanship that might be construed from a slogan on a T-shirt.
