Re: “The Skinny

I've voted for Democrats and Republicans. I voted for and supported Gabby Giffords even though we sometimes disagreed. I respected her because she would meet with her constituents, take our calls, discuss our issues, and explain her positions in advance of her votes. I'm stunned Rep. McSally doesn't think her positions on issues are open to public discussion! I was disappointed that she wouldn't even own up to her vote for Trump. She doesn't seem to have any convictions except that she will do anything she can to hold on to her seat, and certainly no courage of convictions. And she will not get a big lobbying job when she loses because she has proven herself to be both inarticulate and unconvincing.

Re: “The Skinny

Time to retire McSilly. Then you can spin some false reason you had to leave so you save fake credibility when you go to work for some lobbyist group. Think about it.

Re: “The Skinny

"There's just an element out there that's just, like, so against the president. Like they just can't see straight. And all of a sudden on January 20, I'm like his twin sister to them. And I'm, like, responsible for everything he does, and tweets and says."

Like, learn to, you know, like, use adult word to, like, explain yourself and, like, your total disregard and, like, contempt for all your constituents not just, like, you know, the R ones.

Re: “The Skinny

I totally agree that as our representative Martha McSally should state her position, give the reasons for her position, and, if constituents are still concerned, address why she feels the concerns are unjustified or how the concerns will be addressed. Her district includes voters who are both liberal and conservative, her job is to give all of us her assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of legislation, so we can understand her position, even if in the end we may not agree. I expect a dialogue, information and honest communication from my representative. I'm not getting any of that from her, but there are others offering to do a better job.

Re: “The Skinny

To blame the So-Called President for her lack of responsibility to her constituents is one reason she should not be in office. Even when she did have one town hall, she would argue with us about our concerns. She didn't really listen to us, she just thought we were being "mean" to her. We were frustrated and showed our frustration by continually asking her to answer our questions. She told out-of-district bankers Dodd-Frank is bad. Does she not understand it was put in place to protect her constituents? It appears not. And, it seemed she was indicating to the bankers that she will be voting to remove Dodd-Frank. What am I to conclude as a constituent? Well, my conclusion is that she cares only about her donors and nothing about her constituents, which is her job! Guess she needs a new job since she doesn't appear to like this one. I plan to help her out in 2018 by not voting for her.

Re: “The Skinny

I don't mean to be hyperbolic, but McSally and the Republicans want people like me to die. I have a pre-existing condition, and Obamacare saved my life. McSally is working to make sure me and people like me can't get insurance or lifesaving treatment -- all so millionaires and billionaires can get more tax cuts.

Re: “The Skinny

Though I am liberal I understand that I live in a moderate area in a red state...I expect to compromise my ideals for the sake of representative democracy. We have THE most controversial President ever, and McSally chooses party over actual representation every day. Martha, we don't expect you to vote blue. We expect you to explain your position and vote what is best for your district. Charlie Verdin said it well last night at the RepresentMeAz forum, to the effect of "the representative's job is one of advocacy and communication both in Washington and at home." Leaders communicate where and why we are going. Politicians in the pocket of others act like McSally.

Re: “The Skinny

I need a different health care plan. Obama destroyed mine. And in case none of you have noticed, he left office with the world on fire and Iran monetarily enriched. Try a different news source.

Re: “The Skinny

How does McSally define her job? To "support and defend the Constitution," which she swore to do by her oath of office? Apparently not. To represent the interests of her constituents? Doesn't look like it. Maybe she could say she votes in her constituents' best interest whether they or not they realize what their best interest is? Not when she joins the rush to replace Obamacare before the CBO has a chance to evaluate the effect of the Republican bill on her constituents. Maybe . . . to survive the next primary?

Re: “The Skinny

So to test my understanding here: Martha McSally believes a congressional representative's job isn't to share her legislative views and a banker's job isn't to fill out paperwork.

Not big on reading job descriptions, is she?

Re: “The Skinny

WRONG, B-: this has everything to do with you - take it personally. You are in trouble for your complete lack of a spine, lack of compassion, and total FAILURE to REPRESENT (or even meet with) your constituents. You are toast in 2018 and it's all on YOU!

Re: “The Skinny

Why would Rep. McSally expect that the environment would NOT change on January 20th? President Obama, whatever anyone might think of his policies, did not flout the Constitution, ignore established ethics rules, and behave so as to make the U.S. a worldwide laughingstock. President Trump has already done all this and worse. For McSally to imply that January 20th would not be seen as a turning point is naive to an extreme, an extreme that renders it unbelievable in the context of her education and intelligence. In other words, her rhetoric here embodies a level of disingenuousness that's unbecoming and inappropriate for someone in her position.

Re: “The Skinny

Who do the Democrats have to run against McSally? If there's nobody on the Democratic side with any credibility to run against her then this entire charade is moot.

Re: “The Skinny

Martha McSally has no one to blame but herself for her political collapse. Her constituents did not force her to walk the plank for Trump (in fact, we begged her not to). She treats her district like enemy territory. It is time to replace her and find someone who will truly represent us.

Re: “The Skinny

Maybe her constituents consider her a twin sister to the president because she has voted 100% with his agenda, that it is not simply the (R) next to her name. McSally's voting record - especially her unwavering support for the "new improved" health care bill, you know, the "f*cking thing" she wanted to get done - speaks for itself. If she doesn't want to be compared to, or aligned with, Trump then perhaps not standing arm in arm with him would be a good first step. Her unwillingness to tell her constituents how she is going to vote on a bill (she was quoted saying something along the lines of "My vote is my business, you'll know what it is when I cast it on the floor" in response to constituents, like me, asking her how she's going to vote on bills) is a telling sign that she knows she's not voting in a away aligned with the people she is suppose to be representing. That instead she is voting her own agenda, which also happens to be Trump's agenda. Her whining and complaining at these out-of-district bankers is nothing more than her abdicating responsibility for her voting record. I have no sympathy for her "Oh, dear, my job has gotten so much harder since Jan 20th" - partially since I am 100% sure she voted for Trump in the election, but mainly because she has no sympathy or empathy for constituents, including the undocumented people living, working, and raising families within her district. Until she stands with us, I will not stand with her.

Re: “The Skinny

Complaining about the R next to her name taking her down regardless of what she does when ALL she does is what the "R" and Trump wants her to do = hilariously out of touch. Walks in "let's fucking do this" lockstep with them and then complains she's associated with them.

And I love that she can find time to speak truthfully to bankers while ensuring she doesn't ever actually talk to the people she represents.

Bye Bye Martha! Let's vote her 'the fuck' out! She is a coward and a bully and her time is up in 2018.

Re: “The Skinny

Other legislators, both D & R, manage to find the time and energy to comment on Trump's reckless, damaging behavior. They recognize that legislative oversight of the Executive Branch is in the job description. Maybe McSally is just too "drained" to keep up. If so, time to resign!

Re: “The Skinny

Martha McSally's refusal to meet with constituents is an abdication of her duties as an elected official and is an indication that she is really representing only special interests - not the constituents who actually live in her district . She complains that she is unfairly being swept up with Trump but has voted his agenda consistently. Be brave McSally and take responsibility for your actions! Be brave and meet with constituents.

Re: “The Skinny

Really?! THE TWEETS are the problem? How out of touch is she? Here's only some of the problem:
-Comments about journalists
-Unconstitutional Muslim ban
-Attempted gutting of domestic programs like Meals on Wheels
-Embarassment in the International field: Paris Climate Agreement
-Shady charity money laundering
-Encouraging a divisive government
-ACA repeal
-That STUPID wall
