Re: “The Skinny

I do want to see McSally move back to wherever she came from, but really, is McSally Lite the best we can do?

Re: “The Skinny

EMILY's list is so off base. Kirkpatrick is not running to represent 'Arizona'; she lost that race to McCain last year. She is running the represent CD2 which includes most of Tucson and other parts of Southern Arizona. She moved here to run for this seat because she thinks it is something she can win, she did not move here because she cares about Tucson or the interests of our diverse region. She is a carpetbagger coming to Tucson with Washington D.C. PAC money and outside national interests and ambitions... sounds a lot like McSally. Let's give the other candidates, including Matiella a fair shake Tucson! They deserve to be heard and considered, even if they are being ignored by the party and D.C. money.

Re: “The Skinny

Making it easier for the BP hiring meant dropping the lie detector test, if I recall correctly... letting those who couldn't pass some psych checks get in easier... much needed since we had already started scraping the bottom of the barrel under Clinton. The article could well have started off with the last two paragraphs... recapping some of the batshit laws she tried to get passed...

Re: “The Skinny

I was struck by the comment that she performed better than expected during her first term. Were their expectations low because she was a woman? But better than whomever? Not currently impressed by her general performance over all in the interests of the non-military middle class community in her district. What exactly has she done to make our lives better?

Re: “The Skinny

" One loosened hiring requirements for veterans who wanted to work for the Border Patrol, while another allowed WWII-era servicewomen to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery." Wowee! And consequently the quality-of-life of McSally's constituents has improved immeasurably. Let's hear it from the family's of the WWII-era sevicewomen [great grandmothers] that live in McSally's district. I'm a veteran and only 82, maybe I should consider applying for a job with the Border Patrol. And we pay her salary?

Re: “The Skinny

"Does John McCain still have it in him to drive the final stake through the undead heart of this vampiric legislation?"

What do you know? It appears that he does.

With reference to who knows what is in which law or which bill, it is clear that not only does our loser POTUS not have any idea (a) what is in Graham-Cassidy or any of the other so-called "repeal and replace" bills or (b) what is in the Affordable Care Act, he also (c) has no idea what health insurance is. Here are two descriptions he has given of his understanding of health insurance:

"So pre-existing conditions are a tough deal. Because you are basically saying from the moment the insurance, youre 21 years old, you start working and youre paying $12 a year for insurance, and by the time youre 70, you get a nice plan.

Insurance is, youre 20 years old, you just graduated from college, and you start paying $15 a month for the rest of your life and by the time youre 70, and you really need it, youre still paying the same amount and thats really insurance."

It is obvious that our loser POTUS thinks health insurance works like life insurance. It is apparent that he has never had to worry about whether the doctor he wanted to see was included in his insurance company's network. He has never had to worry about a deductible or a copay. He has absolutely no idea how ANYTHING within this general subject works.

Re: “The Skinny

I received this letter from McCain dated 9-19:

Thank you for contacting me to share your views about health reform. I appreciate knowing your thoughts on this very important topic.

Since the enactment of Obamacare more than seven years ago, Americans across the country continue to see the consequences of this disastrous law. In Arizona alone, the cost of midlevel health insurance plans on Obamacares marketplace increased by 116 percent on average last year. Worse still, before Obamacare, Arizona had 24 insurance companies selling plans on the individual market. Today, there are just two companies and 14 of Arizonas 15 counties have just one insurer. That is not what President Obama promised when this bill was signed into law, and why the status quo is simply unacceptable.

As you may know, earlier this year I voted against the so-called skinny repeal amendment because it would not have accomplished what I have been promising Arizonans for seven years, and that is to repeal and replace Obamacare. While the amendment would have repealed some of Obamacares most burdensome regulations, it offered no replacement to actually reform our health care system and deliver affordable, quality health care to our citizens.

As we move forward, it is critical that Congress not make the mistakes of the past that has led to Obamacares collapse, including in my home state of Arizona where premiums are skyrocketing and health care providers are fleeing the marketplace. We must now return to the correct way of legislating and send the bill back to committee, hold hearings, receive input from both sides of aisle, heed the recommendations of our nations governors, and produce a bill that finally delivers affordable health care for the American people. Ultimately, the final product must be based around the fundamental value of freedom, and Obamacare is not.

Thank you again for writing to me. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other comments or questions.

Sincerely,

John McCain
United States Senator

Re: “The Skinny

They have a history of "passing the bill so they can read it." Many of our elected officials are not serving American citizens. Why would that be?

At least Donald Trump is.
