Re: “A [Fill in the Blank] as the Democratic Presidential Candidate? I Guess Democrats Just Want to Lose.

I just watched last word and he had a professor on who studied the 2016 election and correctly called the 2018 election. Appealing to so called moderate republican women cost clinton 2 democrat votes for every moderate republican vote she picked up. 6 million democrats mostly black who voted in 2012 didn't vote in 2016 and another 1.5 million voted for jill stein. In detroit 70,000 democrats mostly black who vote didn't vote for president just down ballots hillary lost michigan by 10,000 votes. Selling a base candidate to moderates is a lot easier then trying to get the base to vote for a moderate. Biden talks about appealing to moderate republicans just as clinton did and again ignore black voters.

Re: “Danehy

To tctw: just as you can use a butter-knife as a screwdriver, you can use arms that were developed for the express purpose of killing humans to kill other animals, and you can certainly train with them at a gun range. That does not make said weapons appropriate for general use. And frankly, any serious hunter would far prefer a Remington .270 or Weatherby .340 over any AR-15, no matter how nicely modded, anytime, especially for hunting and target shooting.

further left so did hillary in 2007 not 2008. while it is true that black women will likely decide the nomination groper joe biden is like the rio grande river a mile wide and an inch deep. tulsi gabbard would also be a dynamite candidate she is aggressive as AOC who is not old enough to run.

As an Elevator Constructor in N.Y.C. my union dues went to supporting Democratic candidates. When I objected I was asked if I liked my job. That ended that.

Employers have forced workers to attend political gathering that they oppose and fired those who refused. This has happened before and will happen again.

As for president beto o'rourke is a young kennady give it a shot. He will need stacy abrams for his veep. If groper joe is nominee and the greens nominate some hollywood type 2016 all over again. donnie deutiche show on saturday explored the effects of jill stein candidacy on clintons defeat.

Re: “Sahuarita Pecan Festival Cancelled, FICO Blames Global Tariffs

So who beat Andy Ngo?

... there were tense skirmishes, mostly with antifa protesters who were trying to find right-wing rallyers, throughout the day.

Trying to "find" them. That is left wing reporting for you.

This is a cartoon? Why am I not laughing? Because it is promoting hate and division in this country by not accepting that Donald J Trump is POTUS and mocking everything the man does...how childish and unpatriotic are you?

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Bigly Crowds

Is this true? If so, what is your source for the union placard? Maybe a Lib paid him to raise that sign even though it is not true? And why wouldn't union members attend a Trump rally? The economy is way up, construction jobs are hard to fill, unemployment is at an all time high, etc.
Any lie or fake news to denigrate President Donald Trump!

They won't need to hold their noses, all they have to do is look at how Biden is being treated by the socialists/communists running in the primary. That and look at the actions of Antifa over the weekend in Portland. This is a angry violent mob bent on harming people. It eliminates Dems as a choice.

Re: “Sahuarita Pecan Festival Cancelled, FICO Blames Global Tariffs

It all has a ripple effect... like our air and water, it circulates so how can we try to create so much separations with other countries? Stupidity really. Pecans have been and will always be the most expensive nut. I love to roast them with walnuts and candied them for salads and mix snacks. A family tradition!

Re: “Tucson Spectrum Theatre to Receive Luxury Makeover

Thats a large and dedicated community, to see this renovation happening will make that theatre an equal awesome theatre as it used to be. Now with the luxury seating and theatre surround systems, plus bar, this will make going to Harkin theatres exciting again. Now if only Scottsdale and shae can get a complete do over that would be equally exciting!

Re: “Sahuarita Pecan Festival Cancelled, FICO Blames Global Tariffs

Voting for Trump was economic suicide for soy , pork, and pecan farmers. Here's the big question though, will they hold their noses, check their empty bank accounts, and look at their fields not planted then vote for Trump again. I've seen it happen with my grandparents because they were too ignorant and uneducated to comprehend that Republicans have been responsible for most Depressions and Recessions in this nation. To think of Republicans as good economists is equivalent to thinking that televangelists are only interested in getting you into heaven.

Re: “Interview With TUSD Board Member Leila Counts

No one said you endorsed her, David, or "made the case for her position on the Board." But in the way you structured this, you did give the impression that she is trying to make a positive difference. If your editorial / sponsoring role in presenting that case is not clear to you, ask yourself these questions:

*Did you decide to feature her in your blog?

*Did you compose the introductory paragraph to this blog post?

*Did you decide which questions to ask, and did you refrain from asking other questions, like, for example, a question about the discrepancy between her highly qualified TUSD Kindergarten teacher story and the vacancy rates in the district?

*Did you decide on the photo that appeared with the interview? (An important propaganda technique, as we note from the way ADS sometimes uses unbelievably unflattering photos of certain political candidates, e.g. the candidate who ran against Dustin Williams for Pima County Superintendent of Schools.)
https://thisistucson.com/schools/who-should-i-vote-for-pima-school-superintendent/article_34cbeca4-8051-11e6-985d-d757375af9c3.html

*Did you treat Ms. Counts as you have sometimes treated other local figures who try to engage in advocacy related to TUSD, like the organizers of TUSD Kids First?
https://www.tucsonweekly.com/TheRange/archives/2016/10/10/more-on-the-financial-backers-of-tusd-kids-first

Q.E.D.

P.S. Your involving yourself in this Counts controversy and the role you are choosing to play is actually quite interesting. Almost makes me want to attend T.U.S.D. Board meetings again and observe the interplay among the new set of players, including Ms. Counts. Almost, but not quite. I learned about as much as I need to know about Ms. Counts by looking at the list of those who endorsed her on her campaign website. Speaks volumes, to those who know the language. As does who did not endorse her formally, but was probably in the background. As does this blog post...

"We're going to win. We're going to win so much. We're going to win at trade, we're going to win at the border. We're going to win so much, you're going to be so sick and tired of winning, you're going to come to me and go 'Please, please, we can't win anymore.' You've heard this one. You'll say 'Please, Mr. President, we beg you sir, we don't want to win anymore. It's too much. It's not fair to everybody else.' And I'm going to say I'm sorry, but we're going to keep winning, winning, winning, We're going to make America great again." -- Donald J. Trump

Re: “Interview With TUSD Board Member Leila Counts

To "Please address vacancy rates": I want to correct the impression that I presented the case for Leila Counts' position on the board. I asked questions, she answered them, and I put her words and her answers in the published interview.
