Re: “The Long and Winding Load

Doesn't matter who wrote it, the concept was weak, the acting, writing, producing, directing, etc., subpar, so read the review and see it or not. your choice sonora.

What does written by a millennial even mean?

Re: “Danehy

of all the stories, of all the companies, of all the job and wealth creation that happened before and after the invention of the transistor and semiconductor,
this is the best you could do? Native American workers were taken advantage of by unscrupulous capitalists, who paid them horribly then moved their jobs to asia.

This has been happening since hunter gathering society. Yet your article, looks at the incident through today's eyes.

You continue to emphasize human treatment by the unscrupulous as something new, and attempt to make these workers victims. That's your choice..

Yet, your articles continue to echo the judgement of certain presidential candidates that we are all (95%) victims of capitalism, and government regulation is the answer. I know it's an easy sell to TW readers. But here me now, believe me later, this ain't gonna play in blue collar swing states., the result...
4 more years. If you can't beat him with a centrist candidate in 2020, and forget all the socialist nonsense of free this and that for everyone...it seems the dems are more interested in progressive reactions from information elites, than getting elected. That's the tragedy.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Hate Your Face

Ha Ha Ha Ha!

"Dave M"! I see that the sock puppet is running out of names that are any good.

The only Rat I'm viewing on this comment thread is you. And the orange cheese is screwing your brain into excremented fodder.

Also, how classy of you to interject Seth Rich into this comment thread. Hopefully for you, his family doesn't figure out who you are. They have been notoriously protective about keeping his legacy untainted by sock puppet troll POSs such as yourself.

It did before this, but now, it sucks even more to be a troll such as yourself.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Hate Your Face

Good one AZ/DC! You forgot to mention the Clinton Campaign worker, Seth Rich, who was murdered after Julius Asange at Wikileaks got ahold of Hillary and Huma's emails. They are leading you like a rat to cheese. Show them who is boss here.

Re: “Tucson Salvage

My fellow HumanBean,

Websters New College Dictionary defines fetishization as, To treat with unwarranted respect: to overvalue. If then, you judge the author to be guilty of unwarranted respect for a sex worker, are you not the one who is guilty of judgement?

I have had the privilege of not just reading but analyzing and studying Tucson Salvage as a body of work both inside and outside the classrooms of higher learning institutions and, alongside a jury of my peers, have found the work to have academic merit in both a sociological and creative nonfiction context. This writing and its unflinching depiction of oft-marginalized
voices holds equal weight in the Ivory Tower and down on the street corner (a difficult feat to manage indeed.)

In the spirit of Salvage and its underlying message that we are all as human beings in this thing together, I shake your hand and offer you the respectful disagreement that we should all be trying to afford one another every day.

Re: “Tucson Salvage

Magdalena,

I was comparing photographers and writers who make a living documenting the misery of others and questioning when it crosses a line. These are ethical questions that are openly discussed among photographers and writers. Your creatively interpretive response reminded me of something Trump would say. Nobody was comparing empty buildings to people! You big orange goof.

The one point I want to address from your post is this, because it's so glaring:

*Is presenting a humans positive assets alongside their more obvious flaws really fetishizing them?

Does Brian figuratively fetishize these people as your question presumes I was referecing? I think he does, but that was not my point. It's not that deep, he is LITERALLY festishizing them, which is way worse! Did you even read this piece? I will quote one section in particular for you:

"Tia cameoed in a previous Tucson Salvage column and she is too pretty and white and healthy-looking to be anywhere near a homeless camp. You don't see homeless people like her every day"

I am going to stop here. That is text book reductive fetishization of a person based on looks, gender and race. It's crazy that my fellow liberals are embracing this kind of stuff so openly!

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Hate Your Face

Hatred and anger?

How foolish of you to assume that when I'm laughing I'm experiencing hatred and anger. You tRump cultists are hilarious! I laugh at anyone who constantly has the facts thrown in their face and they just outright refuse to believe it; yet shit like "Pizzagate" and "Obama's a Kenyan" are the real deal to tRump loving losers. Yes, I typed losers, although I am aware "K.A.G." & "Ophelia" is the same sad individual attempting to boost numbers by adapting a different username every time he/she posts a comment. Talk about pathetic sock-puppetry!

Keep on posting 'em Ophelia MAGA KAG Trump 2020 clown. I promise it will create humour and laughter for me, not the hatred and anger built up in you which you have attempted to project on to me.

Ophelia:

When you say "the Master", do you actually mean tRump?

HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA!

Your comment is the most foolish one I've read in quite some time. You must be dosing the orange kool-aid straight from a PIV line.

Thank You for the best laugh I've had all day!

BS Bernie won't pay minimum wage of $15 but demands that we do. Warren is out to destroy Wall St.

Pray for SSI to triple your income?...hahahaha Socialism still sucks.

Snopes can't say if Omar married her brother or not.

2020 is coming folks. We had 25 candidates and Biden, ole Sleepy Touchy Feely Joe is the front runner?

It will take more than bitter comic book tactics to beat the Master.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Barr Chokes Justice

How about this: Barr intervened to stop the Justice Department's federal prosecution of the NYPD officer who applied the chokehold to kill Eric Garner. Hence the very appropriate Claytoon.

Re: “Tucson Salvage

Losers. Yes. If you notice a running theme, their troubles start when their own fucked up families can't care for them anymore. Love them, sometimes. Care for them, no. And the cycle continues. So a challenge for you all. If you'd like to rid the world of all the adult losers who we all despise, mock and judge, just take a moment to not shit on the kids in our society. No matter how gross and mean they seem to you. Don't shit on them. Help them out the next you're voting for funding for mental health care, school services, food banks, Planned Parenthood, drug programs or just not being a shit in general. Don't do it for them. Do it for yourself so you won't have to even think of all those losers anymore.

Re: “Tucson Salvage

I appreciate careful and critical examination of the intention behind art and journalism, but, Human Bean, I do not agree with your deductions in this case.

Are you really comparing the life stories of disenfranchised persons to abandoned houses and judging their experiences to be unilateral disasters?
Is presenting a humans positive assets alongside their more obvious flaws really fetishizing them?

And if a column like Tucson Salvage cannot or should not in your mind profile such individuals, then who will? Is it better (perhaps more convenient?) they remain transparent, out of the publics conscience, sight and mind?

As to the author using first person, I understand it to be his way of leveling the playing field, hopefully sidestepping pity or accidentally evoking the dreaded other.

I welcome and anticipate your thoughtful response.

If the tribe paid for it with federal funding, you and I paid for it. So that some scum politician could get donations.
