Re: “Democrat Kathy Hoffman Is Arizona Republicans' Enemy Number One

She is doing a great job. If Betsy DeVos, Cathi Herrod, Kelly Townsend, and Finchem dont like her, she must be doing the perfect job. Keep her forever.

Frances, perfect comment and very true. They are baffled that she actually is educated and knows what she is doing.

Re: “Democrat Kathy Hoffman Is Arizona Republicans' Enemy Number One

A wonderful person who is killing it in this office!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many folks in AZ have no idea what that means. It is such a foreign concept to actually have a qualified person in a political job, A job that takes an experienced, on point, educated professional that is ACTUALLY trained and ACTUALLY able to do the ACTUAL job they were appointed to do.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Quid Pro Uh-Oh

It is ironic -- and sad -- that media people and democrats continue to go to the one person whose arrogance, hubris and blind ambition have done as much damage to the state of American politics and the nation as the current occupant of the Oval Office.

It would have been better for all if she had remained lost in the woods and taken up residence in a she shed version of a Ted Kaczynski cabin.

As for listening to someone making not-so-veiled accusations against a woman who has honorably served this country in uniform -- as opposed to riding her husband's coat tail to power and ignoring that same husband's frequently dropped trousers -- I have neither the time nor inclination.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Yippee Ki-Yay Rudy

I don't know why the ill informed like cap always say Hunter had no experience in business, he's actually quite a lot. Note that Caps income figures are far higher than the reality. But the fringe elements never really get into facts.
'After graduating from law school, Biden took a position at MBNA America, a major bank holding company which was also a major contributor to his father's political campaigns. By 1998, he had risen to the rank of executive vice president.[4] From 1998 to 2001, he served in the United States Department of Commerce, focusing on ecommerce policy.[16] Biden became a lobbyist in 2001, co-founding the firm of Oldaker, Biden & Belair.[17] According to Adam Entous of The New Yorker, Biden and his father established a relationship in which "Biden wouldn't ask Hunter about his lobbying clients, and Hunter wouldn't tell his father about them."[4] In 2006, Biden and his uncle, James Biden, attempted to buy Paradigm, a hedge-fund group, but the deal fell apart before completion.[4] That same year, Biden was appointed by President George W. Bush to the board of directors of Amtrak; he was on the board of Amtrak from 2006 to 2009.[16]
After his father was elected as vice president in 2008, Biden resigned from his position on the Amtrak board of directors and left his career as a lobbyist.[4] Along with Christopher Heinz, stepson of John Kerry, and Devon Archer, Biden founded the investment firm Rosemont Seneca.[17]

He also became an attorney with the law firm Boies Schiller Flexner LLP,[4] and founded Eudora Global, a venture capital firm.[15]

In 2013, Biden, Devon Archer, and Chinese businessman Jonathan Li founded BHR Partners, a business focused on investing Chinese capital in companies based outside of China.[4] In September 2019, President Trump falsely claimed that Biden "walk[ed] out of China with $1.5 billion in a fund" and earned "millions" of dollars from the BHR deal, while Trump was also accusing Biden of malfeasance in Ukraine.[20][21] Trump publicly called on China to investigate Hunter Biden's business activities there while his father was vice president.[22][23] On October 13, 2019, citing "the barrage of false charges" by the President, Hunter Biden announced his resignation from the Board of Directors for BHR Partners effective at the end of the month.[24][25] According to his lawyer, Biden had "not received any compensation for being on BHR's board of directors," nor had he received any return on his equity share in BHR.[26] Biden's lawyer, George Mesires, told The Washington Post that BHR Partners had been "capitalized from various sources with a total of 30 million RMB [Chinese Renminbi], or about $4.2 million, not $1.5 billion."[20]

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Shep Ditches Shemps

Robert C, for your information it was the Republicans that fought health care till they made it a shell of what it was intended to do. Germany has had Universal Health Care since 1885 and the U.S. can't get it's shyt together enough to do anything. Republicans managed to convince their brain-free minions that free health care was bad for them and all that had to add was that Hillary Clinton wanted it for them. Also if you expect to receive Social Security then you are a part of Socialism. If your parents or relatives receive S.S. then you know that Socialism has aspects that can benefit a Democracy.

Alas, the problem is that the last two sentences are inevitable in that world view. We are what we claim to fear most - religious zealots.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Shep Ditches Shemps

Joe must really scare the bejesus out of trump and the republicans, at this rate there will be as many fake stories about the Biden's as there were about Hillary in 2016. Meanwhile, trump is putting our troops and our Allies in harms way. Today, right now, we have 1,000 American troops surrounded in Syria with no escape route, Kurds who fought with us are dying by the hundred. But some clowns think passing on fake accusations on his political rival is important. Sad this is where we are today.

Breaking news george kent testifies before congress that he tried to warn qid pro quo joe biden in 2015 that hunter biden's ukranian dealings were a conflict of interest and giving a green light to corruption despite government policy on anti corruption.but was rebuffed by joe biden.

Re: “Seeds of Conflict

It may be better for the legislature to do this, but they won't. I believe that only in Illinois did a legislature step forward; the others were done by initiative. Heck, the AZ Legislature couldn't even ban cockfighting.

Loved this beautiful story. I grew up on Lew King and remember Jack Curtis (VIP, Spyders). Brian, every story you tell is golden. I loved your tales even before Bill Blake started writing columns in New Times.

Re: “Democrat Kathy Hoffman Is Arizona Republicans' Enemy Number One

How is so-called LIBERALITY consistent with aggressive obscenities launched at anyone who disagrees with party orthodoxy, or with justifications of the forced relocation of students?

What an absurd spectacle: David Safier and his whole gaggle of holier-than-thou, modern-day secularized Puritans, crusading, hysterical, self-righteous LIBERALS-in-name-only, stoking their hatreds and pursuing their various witch-hunts: they are coercive, dishonest, imperialist ideologues. The obscenity-slinging commenters who follow David around blow his civility cover with predictable regularity and make it very clear what kind of dysfunctional hatred and aggression his political cabal stokes and entrenches in our communities.

Go ahead, David: praise Kathy Hoffman for making sure those kids on the border with New Mexico will soon be back in schools where they may learn beneficial skills like how to call anyone who disagrees with you a f***un POS troll. The most important thing is that the schools they attend should be Arizona PUBLIC DISTRICT schools, right? No need to look into what kind of environment the forced change will put them in, with certified or uncertified teachers, with discipline problems, inadequate educational materials, or unsafe facilities. As long as the schools funding structures pass the Democratic Partys litmus test, Hoffman is doing those kids a favor by forcing their conformity with Party orthodoxy. That is the schizophrenic THINKING (?) behind your Partys interpretation of this situation, an interpretation which has nothing to do with education and everything to do with IDEOLOGICAL WARFARE, with no regard for civilian casualties.

As you wrote in your last blog, quoting one of the self-righteous Puritan prigs who is a suitable model for your latter day self-congratulatory BS-feed, they also serve who only sit and write. But serve WHAT, David? Oliver Cromwell, in the original case, and his dangerous 21st century equivalents, in yours. Very LIBERAL indeed. Revisit Cromwells history in Ireland some time, if youd like to get a good look at the moral quality of what was being served by your Puritan predecessor. There are some interesting parallels between Cromwells favored kinds of hatred and the sentiments behind some of your tribes educational policy priorities.

(Why did some political factions start developing a policy toolkit to limit the reach and influence of networks like Davids that have lodged themselves in some (not all) public institutions of education? Gee, I wonder.)
