Re: “Interview With TUSD Board Member Leila Counts

Shari 07, you see the statement about an interview being edited for clarity at the top of many interviews. It means that what you're reading isn't word for word, everything Leila Counts said, but it's her words and her ideas.

Re: “Danehy

Would the writers of the Copnstitution have worded the second amendment in the exact same way had they had a glimpse of 21st century America?

Re: “Viral Message

The sanctuary city status just allows undocumented immigrants to report crimes without being worried about getting deported. Criminals capitalize on the undocumented residents by targeting them specifically.
Having lived close to 30 years not far from Tuscon I know all too well how often these folks get raped, get assaulted, get burglarized and are still more terrified of being deported because their life is here, regardless their citizenship status. Allowing these folks who are living here anyway to help get the rapists, assailants and burglars off the streets is *not* a bad thing. They don't want their kids on drugs anymore than you do. They don't want human trafficking to become rampant anymore than you do. They literally left their country to get away from the cartels; they aren't going to just allow them to propagate if they can help it.
Opening the lines of communication between law enforcement and the people who are most victimized is in everyone's best interest; it's really not that hard to see.

Re: “Viral Message

Where can I get more information on what it would mean to be a sanctuary city? Need to be an informed voter.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts and opinions, David! As I said, I am glad to be taking on this challenge- TUSD board work. To serve our students, families and TUSD educators has been one of the greatest joys in my life!

Re: “Danehy

Trump should be impeached or maded to resign. What's happening to our people that we elected to allow his agenda to go through? What madness is this?
He acts, talks, trying to implement laws like Hitler, almost a copycat, so we are just going to sit and do nothing? Well that's what Germany did for Hitler! Got to do something but twiddle our thumbs!

Re: “Danehy

I hope this changes, its sad that this is happening especially in America where we are yearning to be an example for all nations but some people use ignorance instead.

God bless us all no matter what happens, color or races should never come up at all, good always wins!! Stop discrimination, hatred, and care about your fellow man, your neighbors!
Thank you, Anna

Re: “Interview With TUSD Board Member Leila Counts

To "Please address vacancy rates": I want to correct the impression that I presented the case for Leila Counts' position on the board. I asked questions, she answered them, and I put her words and her answers in the published interview.

Re: “Danehy

Funny how many people that claim to hate Danehy manage to read his editorial every week. I say, very well said sir.
One question I have for these people that cry about their guns being taken away. Who? Who is going to take away your guns? Never had anyone tell me who is going to show up at their door and take them away.

Re: “Interview With TUSD Board Member Leila Counts

Very very proud of you Leila. Being a swing vote is painful, especially when you are not aligned with one side or the other. But you are doing great! Volunteer WORK ( because it IS WORK!) is not easy but it is rewarding because you know that you are doing the right thing for the kids in TUSD. Our family is very proud of you! You come from a long tradition of TUSD teachers Starting with your grandmother Mary Stirling

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Conspiracy-Theorist-in-Chief

CapA, did you forget that Barr is in charge of the federal prison system. Someone gave the orders that left Epstein off suicide watch, without a cellmate, and with no experienced staff near the cell for several hours. Someone made all that happen and it could not have been a Clinton, with all the command ranks being trump people..

Re: “Danehy

Agree with all Tom lays out here. My only question to him, as a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat, is when, precisely, is enough, enough? My guess is, when, as Pelosi&Co. seems to believe, they are swept back into power after the next elections. The odds of that magical moment are - at best -50-50.

Meek and mild in the face of an existential threat is not a strategy, it is cowardice and neglect of duty.
Impeach now.

"We're going to win. We're going to win so much. We're going to win at trade, we're going to win at the border. We're going to win so much, you're going to be so sick and tired of winning, you're going to come to me and go 'Please, please, we can't win anymore.' You've heard this one. You'll say 'Please, Mr. President, we beg you sir, we don't want to win anymore. It's too much. It's not fair to everybody else.' And I'm going to say I'm sorry, but we're going to keep winning, winning, winning, We're going to make America great again." -- Donald J. Trump

Re: “Danehy

Please Donald Trump , will you please continue to demonize people with tan or dark skin. I want you to do it every day so that by the time the elections roll around the Hispanic/Latino and Black voters will hate you and the Republicans so much that you wont get one vote from that demographic and the Republicans, including Moscow Mitch will be given the boot. MItch I heard that Putin was looking for a 1st class Bull--iter 'as a spokesperson and you would be perfect for that position.

Re: “Viral Message

The way I read it the TPD will not use citizenship status to report illegal immigrants when they are found inside city limits.

This is exactly what BP needs help with and we will hurt their efforts. One small sample:

Villa-Garcia was convicted of child abuse in September 2017 and received a suspended sentence of 10 years probation. Villa-Garcia, who has been deported seven times for illegally entering the United States, faces new immigration violations and possibly charges for re-entry of a convicted felon.

He would be allowed to roam and prey freely on Tucsonans.

It's a hell no vote.

Re: “Viral Message

Don't be fooled by a gaggle of giggling court jesters. This is not about democracy. Once passed you will realize that this about using the compassionate (but misguided Americans) to create sanctuary cities on the border that give easier access for the cartels to peddle their poison to our kids and grand kids. The Mayor, City Council and Chief of Police have urged us NOT to vote for this.

I am going to trust them over the green shirts for they know not what they do. Relaxing criminal law provides the maximum benefit....to the criminals. Vote it down.

Re: “Sahuarita Pecan Festival Cancelled, FICO Blames Global Tariffs

Voting for Trump was economic suicide for soy , pork, and pecan farmers. Here's the big question though, will they hold their noses, check their empty bank accounts, and look at their fields not planted then vote for Trump again. I've seen it happen with my grandparents because they were too ignorant and uneducated to comprehend that Republicans have been responsible for most Depressions and Recessions in this nation. To think of Republicans as good economists is equivalent to thinking that televangelists are only interested in getting you into heaven.
