Re: “Elks Lodge #2592 Green Valley

Y'all need to follow this band! And support the GV Elks when they are bringing bands like this to play. If I weren't a member of the Elks I'd join for this.

Re: “D'Alba Hair Salon

I purchased a groupon for a mani/pedi and I have been having a terrible time getting them to honor it. They do not abide by their hours on their website, (no saturdays, 5:30 the latest not 7:30pm)! Very rude on the telephone, no consideration for a paying customer! Don't spend your money on their groupons I probobly juts will take the loss! Terrible business!!!

Re: “Mutts Premium Hot Dogs & Sausages

Best kept secret in the UofA Main Gate area, tucked away in Geronimo Courtyard. Serving reasonably priced gourmet breakfast all day, the Three Amigos breakfast entree is awesome as is the Lobster Benedict. Mutts lineup of several dozen creative hot dog and sausage offerings is amazing, as is the surprising quality of their product, Usinger's from Milwaukee. The food is great, service is excellent, and the best part is that it is dog friendly ! My dog along with hundreds of others are featured on the Mutts Facebook gallery. Fun for pets and pet parents ! Love this place ! The Wisconsin Bratwurst with SauerKraut, best I ever had !

Re: “Southwest University of Visual Arts Galleries

LA Anderson = liar . I worked with her and she despised Sharmon and Marvin ...... she's lying because they pay for people to lie and expect it .

I was there LA I've heard your real thoughts on this school and watched you cry out in rage and anger at how horrible Sharmon behaves towards other human beings ..... be ashamed !

Re: “Senae Thai Bistro

Absolutely incredible, I had the Pad Thai, and I have a newfound respect for asking for the 'Thai' level of spice. Super authentic, great service, can't wait to go back! This is a great place for a date as well!

Re: “Gates Pass Overlook, Tucson Mountain Park

My wife and I came to Tucson many years ago. We are from back East. We love Tucson and it our home for the rest of our lives. We would do a lot of hiking and of course Gates Pass was one of our favorites. Our son would go with us whenever his work scheduled allowed. Then, unfortunately, our son contracted cancer. After a brave and rough struggle he passed away. My wife and I were by his bed side. After his passing we drove to Gates Pass and watched the sun set while crying for hours. The sun set was beautiful and we knew that our son was now in a better place away from all of the suffering he was going through. We still go back to Gates Pass on our son's birthday every year and watch the sun set. It means a lot to us.

Re: “Senae Thai Bistro

I had the Pad Thai and my husband had the Larb. Both were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere and service was great. Best Thai I've had while in Tucson. Highly recommend!

They're closed now; the sign's gone and their website says so long and thanks for all the fish (to paraphrase).

Re: “Mi Nidito

The most overrated Mexican restaurant in town. Living on its publicity from Clinton's visit decades ago. Long waits, poor service, commercial grade food. One reviewer says "authentic Tucson style Mexican food." What a joke. Well, it's Tucson style if you like Circle K style food. There is nothing remotely authentic Mexican about the stuff Mi Nidito serves, unless you are addicted to orange cheese and shredded lettuce on top of everything.

Re: “Little Café Poca Cosa

Easily one of the two or three best Mexican restaurants in the Tucson area -- even with its hours being limited to early morning through lunch.

I've been to The Little Cafe Poca Cosa many times; early morning before work, and lunch. Every time I have been astonished at how quick the service is ... faster than most "fast food" restaurants; yet service up a big variety of expertly prepared Mexican foods. The chips are great, the salsa is great, the beans (not refried) are tasty with that luscious brown sauce that comes from knowing how to prepare them, the rice has just enough spice, they serve raw beets with their salad! (raw beets are one of the most healthy foods for your system), along with grated carrots and other tasty leafy green lettuce and such, the drinks are great (and the owner will even fix you a 're-fill' to go if you want!).

Yes, The Little Cafe Poca Cosa insists on being paid in cash ... there are big signs outside telling you this before you go in ... and it is easy to get cash, as there are a couple of ATMS within 50 yards or so of the entrance ... and it is something you will want to 'go out of your way' to do (get cash) in order to enjoy this astonishingly good Mexican food cafe.

(P. S. The owner does give everyone a hug when the leave, if they will let her. Very friendly. But, she's never tried to kiss me on the mouth. Whomever said that is making up a false story, just to make a wonderful restaurant look bad. This is a great place to eat.)

Re: “Impress Hot Pot

If you have never had Chinese hot pot, you have to come here. My wife and I lived in China for 3 years (1 year in Shijiazhuang and 2 years in Nanjing) and this is EXACTLY like the hot pots in China. The other Chinese restaurants are all "Meiguo-Chungua-fan" or Americanized Chinese food - Chinese style cooked to American expectations. Impress is not - it is genuine as it is served in China. Suggestions - the hot water that the food is cooked in gets more spicy as it cooks, so get the split cooking - hot and plain. Your lips will thank you. Also - most of the Fu-Yuan (waiters) are from China, so ask them to help you mix the various sauces. Since hot pot is a cook it yourself buffet, you choose what you will cook. Experiment. I like the lotus roots, the various mushrooms and the sea food best.
