Re: “Senae Thai Bistro

Absolutely incredible, I had the Pad Thai, and I have a newfound respect for asking for the 'Thai' level of spice. Super authentic, great service, can't wait to go back! This is a great place for a date as well!

Re: “Little Café Poca Cosa

Easily one of the two or three best Mexican restaurants in the Tucson area -- even with its hours being limited to early morning through lunch.

I've been to The Little Cafe Poca Cosa many times; early morning before work, and lunch. Every time I have been astonished at how quick the service is ... faster than most "fast food" restaurants; yet service up a big variety of expertly prepared Mexican foods. The chips are great, the salsa is great, the beans (not refried) are tasty with that luscious brown sauce that comes from knowing how to prepare them, the rice has just enough spice, they serve raw beets with their salad! (raw beets are one of the most healthy foods for your system), along with grated carrots and other tasty leafy green lettuce and such, the drinks are great (and the owner will even fix you a 're-fill' to go if you want!).

Yes, The Little Cafe Poca Cosa insists on being paid in cash ... there are big signs outside telling you this before you go in ... and it is easy to get cash, as there are a couple of ATMS within 50 yards or so of the entrance ... and it is something you will want to 'go out of your way' to do (get cash) in order to enjoy this astonishingly good Mexican food cafe.

(P. S. The owner does give everyone a hug when the leave, if they will let her. Very friendly. But, she's never tried to kiss me on the mouth. Whomever said that is making up a false story, just to make a wonderful restaurant look bad. This is a great place to eat.)

Re: “Impress Hot Pot

If you have never had Chinese hot pot, you have to come here. My wife and I lived in China for 3 years (1 year in Shijiazhuang and 2 years in Nanjing) and this is EXACTLY like the hot pots in China. The other Chinese restaurants are all "Meiguo-Chungua-fan" or Americanized Chinese food - Chinese style cooked to American expectations. Impress is not - it is genuine as it is served in China. Suggestions - the hot water that the food is cooked in gets more spicy as it cooks, so get the split cooking - hot and plain. Your lips will thank you. Also - most of the Fu-Yuan (waiters) are from China, so ask them to help you mix the various sauces. Since hot pot is a cook it yourself buffet, you choose what you will cook. Experiment. I like the lotus roots, the various mushrooms and the sea food best.

Re: “Brother John's Beer, Bourbon & BBQ

The food was great the service was great the prices are reasonable the environment was fun and nice but
the music for the bike rally held 5/18 was well my daughter pointed and said look at that green truck and see the band doing drugs that was not good and if this place continues to use drugged up bands to preform here I will not go back ever
Veri dissapointed with seeing them doing drugs which tells me brother johns either did not know or did and ignored it either way when that band mary something plays there or anywhere i will not go.

Re: “Dry River Company

Didn't expect to write a review but I did not want the above post to be the last, since he was mistaken about it being closed.

My wife and I enjoy a pizza and beer most Friday's before going into the adjacent movie theatre. The service, pizza and beer are always very good. Pizza is delicious, with much of the ingredients made on site. The glasses are chilled (as they should always be) and the draft choices should serve everyone's taste (although I can never get enough dark lager choices anywhere). The service is fast, perfect and always very personal. I would give a shout-out to the server by name, but I don't like doing that if I have not asked the individual first. She always remembers us, and what we like, even though we are never there more than once a week for one beer and a pizza.

Re: “Wild Garlic Grill

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service at this little cafe. Rather crowded - apparently the multitudes have found the place, but certainly one of the best food places I've run into in Tucson. Wait staff is knowledgeable and helpful, adding to the overall positive impression. Only possible negative is that in one section of the restaurant, you are in essence in a tent!

Re: “CataVinos Wine Shop and Tasting Room

Should be Best of Tucson consistent winner for all the special selections hand-picked for her customers. Learn a little about wines at the tastings or ask her questions when you shop - she has all the answers - really knows her wines! AND is super nice too! A pleasure to shop here and the quality of the selections is guaranteed to be a good place to get gift-wines without wondering if you did OK!

Re: “Monterey Court

The Sunday Brunch and Music Series at Monterey Court is fantastic! Great food and the best of local and touring acoustic artists start your week off perfectly. Hosted by local artist, Nancy Elliott, with a guest performer every week.

Re: “AliBaba Persian and Mediterranean Restaurant

I'm an army brat and I spent 4 years in Iran so for me this place is comfort food. I haven't found a place in Tucson that does Iranian food well. There is nothing quite like their spices like sumak or saffron infused rice and the various kabob dishes. I was taking a trip down memory lane here. The owner was very friendly with us and the waitress was on top of everything. I don't get the negative reviews above. I found the meal great and the portions were huge.

Re: “Saing Thai Cusine

We opted for this restaurant for our Sunday lunch and I am thrilled to have found a diamond in the rough! Since moving here from the Bay Area years ago, we usually wait to eat Thai on our visits back to CA, but not any more. The dishes we chose were nothing short of amazing, including the tofu spring rolls, Gang Garee, and Tom Yum Gai. The crushed peanut sauce for the spring rolls was a delightful nuance to add to the appetizer's appeal. The Gang Garee was an experience that makes me want to get it again next time and yet I'm dying to try the other dishes to see if they have the same complexity of flavors and aromas. Very reasonably priced and served promptly, I only have two words of caution. First, don't be deterred by the appearance of the place itself (very clean and comfortable, just a little plain.) Second, pay attention to the pepper meter on the menu. The Gang Garee is a single pepper rating, but was about as spicy as I can comfortably go, and the Tom Yum Gai is a solid 3 for intensity of spiciness as well as flavor. I can't wait to take our next visitors from out of town!

Re: “Zinburger

Love this place. The food, service and atmosphere are excellent :) They are slightly expensive, but it evens out if you go during happy hour. Great fries and wine selection! I've never had anything I didn't like there.

Re: “BrushFire BBQ Co.

I've had a lot of things from their menu over the times I've been there and have always loved it. Favorites include their messy fries, ribs and the ice cream! Always pleasant service, too. Highly recommend!

Re: “Little Café Poca Cosa

Wow, I'm shocked at the bad reviews on here. There's 0% chance that a anyone had an experience like that-- and those users only ever gave one review....hmmmm. They are always kind to everyone and have some of the best tasting food in Tucson. I hope people see past the negativity and give it a shot. It's my go-to for lunch dates with friends I meet up with downtown. The only bummer is they only accept cash-- but I go at least twice a month so obviously it's not a deal breaker lol. They have like 4(?) kinds of fresh juice and their combination plate is always an enjoyable surprise. I highly recommend their chicken mole and their vegetarian tamale :)

Re: “Saffron Indian Bistro

I have eaten here a number of times now and enjoyed the food, service and ambiance more than any other Indian restaurant I've ever been to. I felt so confident in this restaurant that I finally talked my son-in-law from England into trying it!! After 12 years in the states he said he finally found a proper Indian restaurant! Being from England and being that Indian food is his favorite, I think that is a great compliment! Keep up the superb work Saffron!
