Re: “Southwest University of Visual Arts Galleries

Usually, I would advise not believing comments from anonymous posters on a news site. However, all of the negative responses are true. Cross-check with Yelp, BBB, VA, SAA, Google, Tucson lawsuits... theyre surprisingly accurate. If you care at all about artists, veterans, students, minority populations or even school at all, dont let your friends and family work/study here.

Re: “Estevan Park

Why is this park allowed to remain open when it's clearly a threat to public safety with all the vagrants and drug addicts that live here? Definitely not a place to take the family.

Re: “Parents without Partners

I originally joined PWP,Chapter #45, in 1978. At that time, we had over 800 members! But, as the computer age rushed in, the membership started dropping off. I am not sure if #45 is still even in existence. During my membership, I was the youngest member when I joined.I was only 19 years old. I am happy to say that, although my marriage to my 2nd wife didn't work out, my marriage to my 3rd wife is still going strong after 24 years! And we met at a dance at "The Hall". PEP was a great place for the parents to unwind and be with people going through the same types of issues. Their IWC(International Youth Council) was 2nd to none! PEP is to be commended for their care, concern, love, and respect for the members and their children. I miss the dances and the people. GOD BLESS. Dan Seitsinger

Re: “The Depot Sports Bar

I don't understand previous posts. First of all it is really a fun roomy restaurant with great food and drinks. There is great food and I enjoy it! The Kareoke bar is huge with lots of room. I Never fail to have a great time singing, dancing and eating with my friends. The only negative is the meetup crowd that piles in once a month (which includes me) and makes the waiting a bit long for singing.

Re: “Mystery & Magic Dinner Theater at Skyline Country Club

This was the worst experience I have ever had we went to see an actor who was in the show and is a friend of ours and invited us to come as his guest. After standing for some time we were eventually put at a side table to watch the play from the side. We were treated like servants rather than guests and at one point the head of the show who plays the magician came over looked at the chicken were served and asked if we had eaten off of our plates because he had different plates for us and the people who had paid for a ticket ordered chicken and we're expecting the chicken, and although I had eaten some of the vegetables and a potato, he took our plates and gave us beautiful cut a fish (which worked out perfectly for my husband who is a pescatarian). I was actually in the middle of eating on my plate as I was told to take the potato that I had speared so that he could give the plate to someone else.. my plate which I had eaten off of was then taken and given to someone who paid for a ticket I think; I feel more sorry for the person who had to eat off of someone else's plate. I have never in my life been treated this way and it was on Valentine's Day my husband and I usually do something very special on Valentine's Day and could easily have paid for tickets or gone somewhere else. We were then never acknowledge nor interacted with the entire show other than by our friend who is the show's only saving grace and is fantastic actor in the play. Ross the "magician" and head of the show is a terrible actor an extremely rude and inconsiderate person.

Re: “Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar

My girlfriend and I went for appetizers. The vegetables were not tasty at all. I understand it is a steak place but the poor vegetarians would be disappointed. I do not remember the other appetizers. We went to La Encantada to walk and have dessert. Did not want to try FLemmings. There was a car show there and they gave out tastings from FIre Bird and the veggies were really good.

Re: “Dante's Fire

THE first time the appetizers were too adventurous because they were not that tasty. Went with friends who like the place a lot for a meal. The meal was good.

Re: “Claim Jumper

THE food is ok here, a little pricey. THEy do have gluten free dishes. One time I was frustrated because I love my food hot. I had to send it back because the center of the potatoes (3 times) were cold, warmer each time it came back.

Re: “China Pasta House

I love the gruel (congee, when my stomach is not feeling so well). They have great different dumplings that I love in the sauce (gluten free, so I remove the covering and the it is very tasty). The food is not what most Americans are used to. I had pork chitterlings in a tasty sauce. Some of the sauces are really spicy but tasty. I prefer less spice. The prices are inexpensive. I did not try out the lunch buffet which is during school time.

Re: “CeeDee Jamaican Kitchen

I love the curry chicken. All my friends who came for to eat have never eaten Jamaican food (I gave them all gift cards as a holiday gift.) liked it very much. Jerk chicken is for the spicey person's taste. Home made drinks like ginger beer is served.

Re: “Che's Lounge

On Saturday night, 01/27/18, I asked the bartender/manager for four glasses of water - two for the band members and two for me. For some reason, he bartender seemed disgusted by my request and he gave me two waters instead of four. I went ahead and gave the band members their waters and came back for mine only to discover that the manager had walked away to help someone else. So, I called over another bartender and told him I'd give him $5 for the two waters I wanted. The manager came over to see what was going on and when he discovered what I was doing, he threw both waters into the sink, took my $5, and tossed me out of the club with a nice f-you. Real nice guy and a superb businessman that manager. This is merely the beginning of my reporting of him and Che's where I just so happen to be a regular. You suck, pal.

Re: “Loudhouse Rock and Roll Bar and Grill

Loudhouse rocks like bars used to in the 70s and 80s, when you could go out and get your mind blown by live music. What a wonderful piece of rock yesteryear to have access to. Far out awesome.

Re: “Southwest University of Visual Arts Galleries

I attended this school when it was the Tucson Art Center. Marvin Woods is by far one of the nicest people and thorough teachers Ive ever had. I respect him immensely. Sharmon Woods, however is a witch on wheels and made my life hell for 2 years. But even though she demanded, (screaming in my face), to leave her school, I would not!!! I stayed on, achieved my degree with a 4.0 GPA and even made Alpha Beta Cappa. Most of the teachers, when I was there, were very helpful, knowledgeable and really pushed me to become a better and more imaginative artist. The real world was a better teacher but they did their best under poor management, in my opinion. I am a respected artist in the Tucson community now. I only earn around 50k a year but I love my work and my place of employment so thats something. Im grateful for the education I received at the Tucson Art Center.

Re: “Southwest University of Visual Arts Galleries

Sharmon Woods is a bully and an abusive human being. I personally watched her belittle her adopted daughter's birth defects caused by an addict birth mother and her husband's learning disability. You can imagine how she treats her employees if she speaks to and about her family like that in front of everyone. I worked there for over a decade and in that time I saw it all from her, including a moment when she compared herself to Jesus. The scary part is she believes she is doing good. She believes that belittling people helps them learn and "get it." She passes herself off as knowing so much but most president's of universities have PhDs. This woman has a bachelor's in psychology and claims to know so much because of what? Certainly it is not the books she "reads"only to twist key concepts in them to her advantage. She created psuedosciences that bring people who desperately seek approval to the level of almost cult like blind devotion. All in the name of "getting IT" whatever "IT" is that week. Everyone, including students, who have had an interaction with her are scarred from those meetings. Just look at the countless lawsuits they have had against them and they have pending now. Students beware. All yourself if the owners of the school are willing to treat employees as I have described, how will you be treated?

Re: “Southwest University of Visual Arts Galleries

HORRID place to work. The turnover rate there for staff is really high. Sharon Woods' own family members couldn't stand working with her. By far the worst job and the worst boss I have ever had. Students graduate with astronomical student loans from SUVA and many end up working jobs that pay 11 dollars an hour in fields unrelated to their majors. Avoid.
