Re: “Marxist Discussion group

The coffee shop is not there any longer, so its a bit confusing. It didn't seem to be in the new coffee shop that was there either. I'm new in town and drove around looking for a while, before a nearby business confirmed that the coffee shop Revolutionary Grounds had closed that location a while ago.
That about the third event I spent time, gas $, trying to go to and alas the event was no more.
Please update your event!

Re: “Tucson New Horizons Band Information Meeting - Over 50? Come play with us!

I was an envious band parent when my son played during his school years. When I joined the Tucson New Horizons Band last fall I was a real novice & the lousiest trombone player (of 3), but learned a lot & never regretted finding out about the band. If you're a young age 50 or an older age 100 come join & you'll realize that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

Re: “Presidio San Agustín de Tucsón

A reminder to Tucson Weekly staff--The Presidio Museum charges a fee, $5 for adults, less for kids (check the website or facebook page). Per plan, the City of Tucson gradually stepped down monetary support to zero, and the Tucson Presidio Trust took up costs of historical interpretation, daily and particular events [The city owns and maintains the property; the trust runs events.]

Re: “Presidential Lottery (The Electoral College) – Does Your Vote Count?

The National Popular Vote bill is 73% of the way to guaranteeing the majority of Electoral College votes and the presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in the country, by changing state winner-take-all laws (not mentioned in the U.S. Constitution, but later enacted by 48 states), without changing anything in the Constitution, using the built-in method that the Constitution provides for states to make changes.

It requires enacting states with 270 electoral votes to award their electoral votes to the winner of the most national popular votes.

All voters would be valued equally in presidential elections, no matter where they live.
Candidates, as in other elections, would allocate their time, money, polling, organizing, and ad buys roughly in proportion to the population

Every vote, everywhere, for every candidate, would be politically relevant and equal in every presidential election.
No more distorting, crude, and divisive and red and blue state maps of predictable outcomes, that dont represent any minority party voters within each state.

Re: “Demonyms - Live at Elliott's

Interesting choice for a band name in a town where people argue over whether we should call ourselves Tucsonians or Tucsonans.

Re: “Identity Crisis

This play by local playwright Gavin Kayner is both intriguing and entertaining. 95 minutes, with no intermission, and will keep you glued to your seat. The story is quite interesting. What about our past or present makes us look for a different identity? How do we recreate ourselves in order to feel significant? How do we recreate ourselves in order to hide from reality? Will searching for our true identity bring peace or chaos? The acting is superb! Don't miss this one!
