Re: “Putting the Bud in ‘Budget’

Let's just stick to the facts of school funding. Voters approved a tax increase to fund schools. It was swept into the general fund. Casino profits were supposed to fund schools. Except for a pittance, the money went to the general fund. It is time for a definite budget item for schools - teachers, repairs, etc. -that cannot be subverted to other funds. So far, it generally just looks like the money subsidizes tax cuts. Look, I've budgeted for my household and it takes being honest about costs and the state needs to do the same. Legislators need to follow the laws.

Re: “Hemp is Hot

It's been grown in other countries for years while America continues to hold on to old non-facts and evangelical misinformation. We are falling behind the rest of the world at an alarming rate. Thirty-six countries throughout Asia, Europe, South America, Africa and North America permit hemp production. It would be a boon for Arizona, as would a high speed rail between Tucson and Phoenix...perhaps we could use hemp income to build that instead of building still another freeway in Phoenix.

Re: “Candidates on Cannabis, Part 3

I don't understand why anyone would be against the legalization. Why? Because they just think it's "wrong" ?

Re: “In Defense of Marijuana

"The problem with some law enforcement is that they don't really know the (medical marijuana) law" ...

On the contrary, the cops "know the law" perfectly well; that's why they, and the prosecutors, and the judges, are so good at subverting and violating it.

The problem is "Protect and Serve" has become "Exploit, Control and Suppress".

Re: “Double Trouble

The most amazing thing about these two bills introduced by ,you guessed it, another repressive, controlling Republican is that once again an uptight, bible-wielding, sycophant of the wealthy wants to ignore Democracy and the will of the people who voted for legalization of marijuana. He's thinks that Democracy should only be allowed incrementally and at the rate prescribed by the Republican controlled legislature. Why was the issue to legalize marijuana even put on a ballot if the Gestapo in Phoenix had no intention of ever allowing it to see the light of day.

Re: “Double Trouble

Republicans; ah yes the villains of all humanity !
When 13 years old siphoning gas out of construction vehicles for my mini bike. Another lighting a cigarette threw the match the siphon hose, it blew up I spent 2 months in a burn ward. A morphine drip and 3 channels was my total social exposure. This story and the outlook at the legislative process, bring back those memories.

First the morphine drip does NOT stop the pain it just makes it so you dont care. Call this SCHEDULE ONE states have allowed a drip call legalized or medical marijuana.

Channel #1 PBS children's before sesame street, then molly's midday followed by art program and on to current events at 13 who cared at that time Discussion with William F Buckley & Gore Vidal. 5 drips for that
Channel #2 started with Hog reports prices of pork bellies stock auctions and farm equipment on over to the Guiding Light, As the World Turns, Days of our lives, and so on and so on. 7 drips for that
Channel #3 so it started with the daily crime report on to the Kennecott Copper daily programming with some Temple guidance programming and prayer. Dripped til it ran out or sleep never enough for me.

Bottom line I played with fire and got burned. All of this became from the burn and could have been prevented.

Today it is simple the fire that cause the burn is SCHEDULE ONE. All of he channels play as Education, Enforcement, Business.

We dont see interviews of or Federal Officials asking for rescheduling, Senators Candidates Congressmen. Why is it everyone talks about whats on TV and forgets the fire can be put out by SCHEDULE ONE. When the democrats had the majority they failed to protect and lead just as the republicans, both had hands out where the fingers could get burned. Stop the fire SCHEDULE ONE.

It has taken this long because Jane Hull vetoed Darden Hamilton's bill about 15 years ago.

Re: “Cashing In

Since we brought up this taxation to finance. Lets take a look at pending legislative action. We have Farnsworth (mesa) looking for 5 million of marijuana dollars to go to police to combat trafficking. Of what the minds is to ponder there are no parameters to the bill. Maybe investigate trafficking of knockoff Coach purses at the swap meet, maybe trafficking in stolen first run movies or the like, Or could it be in trafficking in stolen auto parts. Trafficking in child porn illegal cigarettes or stampeded Alcohol. Just where does the term TRAFFICKING start and stop. Yea investing in the government to be forthright with that is like, "Step right up take a spin on the trafficking wheel, first your money then you clothes after that nobody knows"
prop 205 would of allowed all billing for trafficking saying glad to support marijuana in a positive way here is some monies for that. More things added to the trafficking more taxation needed.

lets move on to Sen Borrelli SB-1420 requirement to test all medical marijuana for contaminated and maintain proper labeling. For this he is asking for 2 million from the marijuana dollars to set up standards with the AZ dept of Ag. This is more than reasonable till you read what they are going to test for contaminates and mold, Then if found to be contaminated it is delivered back to the producer/grower so it can blend it down to less parts per million. If moldy then the whole has to be destroyed not returned. If it is contaminated do you want it then rendered down to an oil where you can mix and blend till it passes ? NO!
If they cant get it right by now quit
To add insult chemicals used in manufacture must be displayed on label warnings to health, but no where does it state how much potency is in the product it is with Alcohol. No just some LEAFY dribble of what that strain tested some place by somebody someplace, in some place of time yea BS if not lab tested for strength it is a guess.
Then get to the licensing of the labs all will be independent 3rd party to the production of marijuana I have a feeling that these will try to if not already lobbied the legislature to become distributors this can't happen as it would be a huge conflict of interest.
There should be no limiting of licensing labs that can test if state qualified. There should be no consideration for capitalization of lab set up or operations. Considered as it will become a cost per weight across the board. All labs should be completely independent of any marijuana business in associations, family, or employment. All labs will be completely off site from any other marijuana production processing, distribution, sales.

Re: “Cashing In

What a pant load on 10% of K>12 funding is now 5 billion not 500 million about 1.5 %. The schools need to be financed through the legislature. If any dime of my money collected in marijuana tax is spent through some quasi ghost government. I will go back to street, as the East Coast is legalizing intelligently (Vermont) the market demand there is becoming less for Mexican swag means more on the street throughout the US.

The very Idea that the contributions for police and oversight would diminish over time as it became acceptable is absurd. Born at night just not last night. Like Indian gaming that give so much to programs that help the citizens paramedics counseling etc.etc.
The monies that are contributed from Indian gaming on a sliding scale mind you and dont allow audits. The totals of Indian gaming dont match what the county pays for in emergency services, erosion control, Civil Engineering, Roads & their maintenance plus the res charges a trespass fee (gov to gov) for crossing the res. Plus the loss of sale tax revenue is about 5 million. Whats the loss to entertainment loss dollars taken from Civic arenas. Just look at how many districts are funded primarily from property tax. Indians dont pay property tax but get the benefits well the governing agency does from there is a mystery.

What prop 205 intended to do was circumvent the whole of the State Government set of governing on their own. Have their own Department with their police, court, banking system. Then some quasi non-binding citizens board made up of BS civic leaders to represent the populace to the commission CHA CHING. Once these civic minions hanging around like fish on the chum get entrenched to handing out monies. It will be never ending and the legislature would be happy to say that is a Department of Marijuana problem let them manage let them pay.
How absolutely ignorant this topic is that the enforcement, whimsical related hypothesis of substance abuse of all kinds now related and the burden of tax on marijuana. Damn just look at the Opioid crisis I dont know any oxy or fentanyl addicted that started on Marijuana but on prescription abuse. Let me say if the Marijuana dollars are tapped and siphon off to make other programs legit, quite simple then they are NOT.

I say it would probably be in the marijuana consumers interest. Try and establish a street dealer and make contacts hedge your supply opportunities it would be in your interest if you just got 25% of your consumption it will make a ripple in funding to this bullshit 205 vestiges

You want to do legalization right look towards Vermont the newest of cutting edge legislation towards legalization. REPEAL SCHEDULE ONE

Re: “Cashing In

"If our representatives don't hear that, then we have issues beyond marijuana legalization."

Indeed, this has always been the hang-up. Those issues are exemplified by our current Attorney General, namely, unrelenting ignorance and bigotry based on the misinformation and outright racism from which marijuana prohibition sprang in the 1930's. His pronouncement that, "Good people don't use marijuana," still resonates among law makers to the extent that even though legalization is spreading, it still involves unnecessary restrictions and costs to users. Despite abundantly clear evidence, the new laws reflect a lack of acceptance among legislators that marijuana is dramatically less harmful than alcohol or tobacco. Yet, they see no problem with those toxic products being available at every corner market.

Re: “Legal Theft, Part I

This is compete nonsense. All the people who use the 420 club are ill or injured and require Marijuana to battle chemo related nausea and pain, etc. This is nothing but police harassment and a money grab. With all these police murders of innocent citizens, this is becoming frightening.

Who are these people harming? First, the use of marijuana on a university campus or school grounds is against Arizona Law. Many of the members of the 420 Club go to the University Medical Center and Cancer Center for treatment, after their treatments they ride the streetcar to the streetcar landing right in front of the 420 Club. The exit the streetcar and then enter the 420 Club 20 yards away and consume marijuana to settle their stomaches and let the effects of chemotherapy wane. The police want to harass and steal from the ill and sick?

I will tell you who has become ill and sick: It’s the police that pull tricks like this one, hassling and stealing. No wonder the rank and file Tucson Citizen is frightened of them as they have become bullies and thieves.

What the 420 Club is:
1. It is NOT a dope den!
2. All the members are legitimate Arizona Green Card holders
3. The 420 Club is NO threat to anyone at all
4. All you will find in the 420 Club is the sick and ill trying to truncate and aswage their pain and misery form disease
5. All you will find in the 420 Club are people talking, playing games, chess and trying to make some kind of recovery. Thy are NOT criminals........
6. Cancer, illness, pain and death are very democratic and you, yourself may need the 420 Club sometime in the future! Do you really believe that Cancer, illness, pain and death will never set foot in your household? Think again!

If anything the Tucson Police Department should protect and help these injured, sick and ill people. Stop this harrasment of the ill, recovering and dying. What in the world is wrong with you?

Re: “Last Chance

Do we want marijuana to be the preventive measure Opioid addiction? Or the first line of treatment to compete with Methadone wheres the success there? Are we thinking collectively that a self acquired, self administered, mind altering drug is a new therapy YEA GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.

That line of thinking is why we have the FDA> DEA in the first place. The whole reason Insys and other drug manufactures are synthetically morphing THC and other cannabinols in the first place. Is because it will be pharmaceutical tested for strength and professionally administered with analytical test results therapy. Cant do that with the guy coming home ailing after 30 years of endeavors smoke a joint go to bed get fired the next day tested positive.
See the paradox?
The paradox is gone with the repeal of schedule one your doctor can administer then.

So is the question legalization or repeal schedule one

Re: “Last Chance

Why do we allow the Feds to continue to say that Marijuana is Addictive and has no medical use. There are 30 states now that can prove this is not true and that the Feds have been perpetuating this lie. The Opioid epidemic and other drug related addictions can be drastically curtailed with the use of cannabis but this is what Big Pharma is afraid of. The Government is controlled by the 4 Trillion dollar Medical industry. The last thing the Pharmaceutical industry wants to see is a loss of sales of their biggest revenue producing drugs.
Cannabis is the most amazing plant on the planet and the biggest crime is that it is still federally illegal.

Re: “Last Chance

ABSOLUTELY THIS IS NOT A BIPARTISAN ISSUE !!!!!!

THIS IS A RIGHTS ISSUE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are the bull in the room on this issue.
Arizona is the battle ground this and the next 2 elections. This next midterm can only gain us weight or pen us for the slaughter.

Democrat or Republican is only what side of the barn your pen is on, morning or evening sun. Reality of it does not change, move in one door feast, move along out the other fat and ready for the market. Does it really matter what your diet is if someone else is supplying it. Green for dawn Red meat for dusk the process stays the same.

So ask your self are you going to be the finger pointer to the villain or ask-DEMAND for equal protections under the law the same for all Citizens Democrat & Republican anything less is a loss for all.

Re: “Last Chance

They totally ignore it's medicinal properties that assist our great American Heros in dealing with their PTSD. Instead, we want to fill them with "legalized" opiates. That, made this nation a nation of zombies. So much so, it's a "crisis". Where's the common sense? Oh, Sorry, I forgot. Common sense is only common among those with "sense". Good riddens.
