Re: “Guest Opinion

Thank you for this Pat, it beggars belief that a public servant such as he is can be such a blatant hypocrite and not be called out on it more widely. Ridiculous too that there should be any support for these repeals of sensible laws.

He has my vote. He questions whether expenses like the too wide expansion of the Broadway Corridor are relevant with today's traffic projections. He cares about neighborhoods and works hard to solve problems with matters affecting them. Even in matters where I might disagree, I feel he has thought through things and made choices, rather doing the politically expedient.

Re: “Guest Opinion

If I remember correctly, Steve first left the Republican party and then registered and ran for his second term as a Democrat because the Republican party, even here in Pima County, proved inhospitable to a centrist Republican council member. Republican or Democrat, Steve is the same intelligent, honest, hard-working council member for whom I wish I could vote.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Interesting that two out of four respondents accuse Kozachik of abandoning the Constitution and the Bill of Rights without providing any factual evidence... It seems as though they either dislike Steve on a personal level ot they simply don't understand either of the Founding documents the mention...

I own a business in Ward 6. I have found Steve and his staff to always be available and interested in whatever assistance I have requested. He is very practical and realistic in addressing the concerns of our community. I'm a big fan!

Re: “Guest Opinion

Such a great man, the picture of integrity! I love SteveK because he is a real human being and has a strong core that motivates everything he does. Though I live in the County and cannot vote for him, I am here to say that I will volunteer and do anything I can to make sure he gets re-elected. Tucson is lucky to have him work for our city. He always stands for what is RIGHT! Thank you for your service! You are 1 in a MILLION!

Re: “Guest Opinion

To the boneheads who think this was the right thing to do. First, if you had a clue who the 75K SSA recipients were and how they were treated, you might understand. SSA finds out that someone is not taking care of themselves, investigates, then goes to court to have a Conservator appointed as the individuals have proven not to be able to take care of everyday business, such as paying rent, buying food, keeping themselves clean and healthy. Their funds are then put in the hands of the Conservator who is required to report how the money is used. To put guns in the hands of someone declared incapable of handling day to day living simply belies common sense much less the implications of legal responsibility should these individuals commit a crime. These are not the hundreds of thousands of disabled on SSA benefits, but a small portion of the whole.
Further, the same is true of Veterans Administration beneficiaries with mental illnesses. So, what Flake is saying is that it is OK to have someone with mental illnesses such as PTSD of such severity that a representative payee is appointed to be able to own guns. Do you want someone like that next door with your children running amok outside? Again, this is a small subset of veterans receiving benefits.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Flake is an embarrassment to Arizona. His Duck-horse question at the current SCOTUS hearings was a slap in the face of Arizonans who actually care what a Supreme Court Justice thinks.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Putting all else aside, how is it OK that one candidate gets a guest opinion that is in essence a political advertisement for himself? Did the candidate pay for this advertisement? Does the Weekly intend to extend the same opportunity to other candidates in the future?

Re: “Guest Opinion

Well said Ms Hamilton and I agree! It is quite frustrating that we dont value educating our children, as a society. As a current public school teacher, every time I get my paycheck, I sigh. I dont do it for the pay, but I have to be realistic and need to pay my bills.

Thank you for being our voice!

...and the Templeton Foundation is a conduit through which the Koch brothers route money to schools so they will teach the children that the EPA is bad for the environment, and that sweatshops are good for 3rd graders.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Walking the talk in this way is courageous and will surely win you a good deal of support, Steve. The comment above about Judy Burns made by Mark Stegeman is well taken. Many, many voters are sick and tired of the money in politics; you are showing the way.

Re: “Guest Opinion

Libertarians obsess about potential tyranny from government and ignore the tyranny and coercion that citizens face every day from increasingly powerful corporations and other private interests. It is an intellectually narrow and incomplete view. Wise public policy is focused on serving the public good; libertarian dogma purposefully ignores this.

Re: “Fourth Dimensions

It's sad that downtown and 4th Avenue have lost a lot of what made them unique, the great collection of offbeat shops, bars and restaurants. Kind of hard to roll down Congress these days and not remember good times had at places that are now long gone. Hopefully karma will find and boot-stomp the politicians and unscrupulous landlords that have forced many long-established local businesses out of the area.

Re: “Fourth Dimensions

Goodbye 4th Street Fair, etc. There are plenty of blighted areas on the north side of Speedway near the UofA that could have been improved with an apartment building.

Re: “Fourth Dimensions

Just look at downtown new-built blight-that's what is coming to 4th ave. Maybe a walmart too.

Re: “Columnist Clapback

Sadly there is no subscription with the Tucson Weekly to cancel for publishing Hoffman's screed, like I did with when the Arizona Daily Star started published his crap. Don't get me wrong. I do NOT believe in censorship at all. Hoffman certainly is welcome to have his crap printed or shown on the 'Net. It's just that I won't ever pay a publication that publishes Hoffman's far right idiocy. Hoffman's opinions are as wrong as flat earthers. Factual information about our round earth does not deserve equal exposure as the superstitious flat earthers. That's just like Hoffman vs Danehy, pretend flat earth vs factual round earth.
