Re: “Police Dispatch

I find nothing funny about the horrors of drug addiction. This is a sad story.

Re: “Police Dispatch

There is something wrong here. This woman is clearly mentally disturbed, but she gets arrested for disorderly conduct and assault. What is wrong with the Sheriff's Department? Are the deputies completely uneducated about mental illness?

Once in jail, what happens? Will there be a mental capacity exam or will she simply be warehoused for a few hours and then released? Are the deputies using disorderly conduct and assault charges as easy ways to get her off the street without taking the time to do a mental commitment process? That's what it looks like.

Let's hope she doesn't return and shoot the manager.

Re: “Police Dispatch

I have no idea why this, ahem, alleged progressive weekly rag, continues to publish this section whose only purpose seems to be making fun of the mentally ill or those with drug or alcohol problems. When did the KTS (keep tucson sh**ty) crowd abandon the non judgemental, tolerant, moral superiority that is professed? Very Trumpish..

Re: “Police Dispatch

About 40 years ago, while on mushrooms, I managed to find my way into the stadium. My mission was simple - look at the view from the top of the nosebleed section.

It was dumb then, and it's still dumb now. I was lucky that I didn't fall and die or get seriously injured, and that I didn't get caught. This guy was just lucky that he didn't fall and die or get seriously injured. Let's face it - of the two possible negative outcomes, getting caught is by far the most benign.

Re: “Police Dispatch

Why did you choose to use the image of a US Army Ranger, a highly motivated, volunteer, elite member of our military to illustrate this article when the text described the disturbed civilian individual as a being dressed in khakis and a buttoned up shirt? Was this just poor editorial judgement or a not to subtle intent to equate Army troops with derangement? Fake news? You could do better than this.

I can find one word you're probably thinking of Kenneth, although your tongue (fingers) is (are) probably tied.

Today's secret word is...

(Imagine the suspense and the accompanying drum roll in your head.)

CREEPY!

Re: “Police Dispatch

What a bunch of "dopes".

Wow. Thought those went out in the 70's? But, then again, so I thought "bell bottoms" were as well. History repeating itself, again?

Re: “Police Dispatch

As a proud citizen of Tucson born and raised, I take offense as you describe "our citizens are batshit crazy." I do not denote nor do I disagree with the inconsistencies of how local law enforcement and city officials, manage challenging situations but can't appreciate your statement about citizens. By your logic you are indicating that you yourself are "batshit crazy" since you are a citizen here in Tucson. Pointing out deficiencies and not offering any type of solution and just complaining is what seems to be the standard nowadays. There is enough hostility in our world and adding to it only makes a situation worse than what it needs to be in my opinion. What I offer as a suggestion is use the passion emanating through your words and volunteer somewhere so you make your presence known in the community and you would not consider your local citizens as "batshit crazy." All the Tucson natives I know and associate with are all hardworking citizens that want a safe community. We're all in it together, we all have to do our part.

Re: “Police Dispatch

I find it incongruent that this 'progressive/humanist', ahem, newspaper, continues to publish this section that serves only to make it's readers feel better about themselves, 'at least I'm not as screwed up as this drunken idiot'. What other purpose can this crap serve? It's not about the police, you publish too many other articles showing them as fascist, non caring power hungry sociopaths, especially when they deal with the homeless or someone protesting something.
Maybe this is part of the 'keep tucson shitty movement'....we don't need jobs, better education, or infrastructure, our citizens are batshit crazy! What other agenda can there be? So stop it, it's dumb, and boring, we deserve better

Nothing like kicking the can down the road. More government in action. Thank God for my AR-15 assault rifle with 40 round banana clips and bayonet receiver.

Re: “Police Dispatch

Why even call the Sheriff? PCSO will do nothing about a theft like this. I am amazed that they even came out. The responding deputy's report will be the end of it. No detective will track down the phone owner and find and interview him; no further investigation will be done. Why?

Because the PCSO doesn't have the manpower to devote to low level crimes like this. And why do they not have the manpower to do this? Because we, the people, deny them the funds they need.

We want protection, but we don't want to pay for it.

Ask the Sheriff how many detectives are assigned to the theft detail. And ask him what their priorities are. Of course, you won't get an answer because the Sheriff does not respond to questions like this, and if he did he would attempt to hide the reality that his department does not investigate thefts of property. Better to simply call your insurance agent.
