@Rat T

I'm pretty darn sure that you called "Obammie" a monkey when you were having gin and tonics with close friends and relatives.

Drop the hate and quit reflecting it to make it look like others are practicing it.

Someone who is so "privileged" to be making a nice paycheck should be happy to pay taxes. It's part of being an American! Unless of course, they're a selfish whining prick.

By the way, what the hell does tge mean?

Re: “Editors Note

The comments I've posted are no less intelligent than the commentary you've engaged in for quite some time.

Part of being a troll is badgering people when they choose to ignore you. They have better things to do than to feed a troll. It makes you feel like you're the "winner" even though nobody has even responded to you. In your mind, if they're not responding, that means you must be correct and they have no facts to debate what you believe to be fact. You feel as if their absence of a response is equal to you having the upper hand. It's not always that complicated though, sometimes people just don't want to bother with you. Sometimes people just don't want to be badgered and they hope that you stop once they ignore you. They even let you wallow in your false sense of superiority, just so they don't have to engage with you even when they can easily "beat you in the arena of ideas."

I'll tell you what, I'm willing to make a deal with you. If you stop participating in trollish activities, I will stop referring to you as a troll. Until then, you reap what you sow.

Was that intelligent enough for you?

Re: “Editors Note

What, like your buddies Rat and What do?

They have posted under a host of other names, yet you brown nose them.

Thank the Lord that you don't have your nose up my rear.

P.S. -- I believe I'll stick with this name, thanks for the suggestion!

Re: “Editors Note

At the dinner table;

Mom: Son, what did you write about today?

Son: I camped out on yet another TW article with Rat T because neither of us has a life, so we vomited up yet more of our offensive and idiotic comments while simultaneously whining and sniveling about being the real victims in any and every instance because we're losers with a chip on our shoulders who have nothing better to do with our lives than inflict our misery on anyone who makes the mistake of reading the same article we did.

Congratulations TW, you've let your comments section turn into the same cesspool as the ADS comments, thanks in large part to the very same sewer dwellers who infested them...

Re: “Editors Note

Meanwhile, as the "erudite" commenters and the editor argue the finer points of personal insults and the new White House administration initiates its witch hunt for those "un-American" leakers, Russia has fielded a new ground-launched, nuclear-capable cruise missile in Europe and is actively patrolling the waters outside of our ballistic missile submarine bases on the west coast, even as North Korea is testing ballistic missiles and China is creating man-made islands to serve as aircraft carriers in the south pacific.

Americans need to get their collective heads out of their collective asses and realize that there are bigger things going on in the world right now. Am I pissed at the current administration -- damn right, but the other party didn't do us any favors either. Frankly, it doesn't matter.

The corporations have gutted this nations manufacturing abilities and both political parties have created a nation full of whiners who would rather protest in the streets and kill one another than take notice that the old Cold War never really went away -- just like racism in America -- and that the fat soft America we see today is ripe for the taking.

We have a pro-Russian sitting in the oval office, almost one-third of our Navy's aircraft are out of service because of spare part issues brought about by political infighting and the average draft-age American couldn't pass a military physical fitness test to save his/her Big Mac Whopper-eating ass.

I spent more than 20 years defending this nation against "all enemies foreign and domestic" and right now I see more enemies inside the borders of this nation from both major political parties, corporations and special interests destroying us from the inside out.

You want to make America great again -- read the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution for yourself and not through the filters of some political hack. Take a trip to Washington D.C this summer and walked the silent hills of Arlington Cemetery, the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam War memorial and the countless monuments to World War II.

Do whatever it takes to clear this self-loathing, racist-based, media-feed crap from your mind and soul and start working to make AMERICANS great again.

"I'll tell you what. Come around some time when you actually have something intelligent to say"

Irony just keeled over dead in its tracks...

"Now I'll ask another excruciatingly dumb question that is so pointless, that everyone summarily ignores me. And when they do, I'll declare victory and pat myself on the back for being so S-M-R-T!"

Re: “Editor’s Note

What, Again:
You're a trolling asshole. Everyone reading this has figured that out.

Congratulations! You've placed 2nd in the TW troll poll. Only because Rat T has not been using his regular handle for over a month. But, you're wrong about the score between yourself and Mari.
The actual score is:

Mari- 0 (for her lack of participation, she hates feeding trolls)
CW13- -1(for his constant baiting on Mari when she dislikes feeding trolls)

These scores are real. Ask any sensible TW reader.

Nothing sadder than What, Again and the band of losers that threadsit the Weekly's comments section to recycle tired bullshit from the Rush Limbaugh/Fox News canon. Get a fucking job, losers. I'm sick of feeling sad for your pathetic asses.

Re: “Editors Note

I just read the recent articles related to TUSD and the board meetings. I also read the comments.

What stands out in the comment section:
--A lot of adult names (Rachel/Adelita/Judy/Kristle, etc.), with vitriol about perceived who-did-what-to-who
--Partisan commentary

Missing from the commentary: Constructive, thoughtful conversation about the 48,000+ kids in Tucson who attend TUSD schools. The families. The teachers. The volunteers. The principals. There's a lot of really good people in these groups working hard right now to do right by kids and improve the schools. All these groups, of course, really pay the price each time the school board is used as a partisan [and obviously personal] grudge-match.

Re: “Editors Note

You know, I too cannot stand What's Up usual comments. But I do have to thank him or her for re-posting…
for a good giggle. This is great leadership, right? Its worth a morning guffaw to see the Superintendent "not recall" that he had actually met Ms. Grijalva's mother in law, and then asked her if she would like to become part of the TUSD family, and finally discounted the person ahead of her in line according to ALL the reviewers because of not having long term certification. Sanchez himself was required to have certification, one would assume IN Arizona, but never did. One wonders if exposing this lie, i.e. actually DOING HER JOB is one reason why Huicochea doesn't cover TUSD anymore, and if, given the Boe-inspired media contract, one reason why the Arizona Daily Star hardly covers it either?!

I remember those days too, Mari. I remember them well. The difference between us though is that I never tuned out after giving a chance to the new Board that disposed of Pedicone. I gave them a chance, and I gave Sanchez a chance. If you look through the archives, you will even find pro-Sanchez quotes under my name. But I pretty quickly saw through the smoke and mirrors because I was in the schools and on the ground and not being beholden to any machine or political operatives, the Board disfunction, the over centralization, the mandates and the lies were overwhelming, as students lost funding and importance, and administrators multiplied like mushrooms. Did others stay in touch and keep up? Not so much. The political machine that is so vocal now? Many not at all!

And frankly, since you ask, I think Judy Burns would be very very happy about Rachael Sedgwick's performance on the dais. Don't forget how hard teachers, unions and administrators disliked Judy before she got on the Board. Don't forget that they kept her from her seat for three elections, and she only won on the fourth because no one else ran for the spot. They learned their lesson then, right? The elections now are a sea of people, about half of whom seem to be sent to run with no intention of doing anything but keeping others from winning. Since Judy died while in office, she has been lionized by the very machine that impeded her initial attempts to get on the Board. She was a fearless advocate for students from all over the district, and could be quite irritating with her incredibly specific questions ...She encouraged me to run, and I think (everyone will correct me if I am wrong!) she even suggested or encouraged that Mark Stegeman run. So lets not 'tokenize' her just because she's no longer around to set the record straight.

When, in the last meeting, Rachael questioned an item that was in the consent agenda that was so poorly written that it didn't even make clear what was to be voted on, that was a pure Judy Burns moment. Having done her homework, unlike the rest of the Board members, she started asking questions and sure enough the administrators who had reflexively put a completely untransparent item on the consent agenda were instructed to bring it back when it makes sense. If I am not wrong, that first instruction was from Adelita, desperately trying to save some semblance of focus, order and procedure after Kristle turned the questioning into yet another attack on Rachael. Was the poorly written item malicious lack of transparency or just sheer incompetence? I think Judy would have been quite proud that it was uncovered in either case.

The "king" (notice the purposely used lower case k) of Tucson bigots is calling out bigots.

The lowly troll that uses "I'm rubber, you're glue" as his calling card will be noticed by those who have brains.

You're done W, A.

You were actually done years ago, but you just don't understand reality.

Why should I sign up? Your buddies Rat and What haven't bothered to and you aren't complaining to them about that.

You got your nose jammed in the rears of plenty of people who post here that haven't signed up and they have posted under all different kinds of usernames. Rat T didn't disappear for several weeks, he just decided to post under different names during that time.

Also, I never labeled you as insignificant. A distant 3rd place isn't bad considering all the trolling that's happening on the TW site. You just need to work a little harder than Rat and What are, that's all.

P.S. -- I chuckled when you mentioned looking at old comments to see if all that is done is insulting people. That's some serious "pot calling the kettle black" stuff going on there. Thanks for the laugh dude.

Re: “Editors Note

ALL empires eventually become "fat, soft, and ripe for the taking". Only a fool, ignorant of history and drunk on his own hubris, would believe that ours will last forever.

Fear-mongering is counter-productive, whether it comes from the left, right, or middle. The world is not our enemy--but our nation is increasingly becoming an enemy of the world, as we cling desperately to our fading power.

Chump is a symptom, not the problem. By all means, call him names. It's an essential responsibility of citizenry--not to mention fun and satisfying--to say that the emperor has no clothes. But rescuing this nation's democracy goes way beyond attacking Chump.

When Chump is gone, as he soon will be, we must resume the tenuous task of negotiating our own decline. I would prefer the British way--we should aspire to do it politely, humanely, and with as little violence as possible, please.

Re: “Editor's Note

Unless they allow their voice mailboxes to fill up and slow roll recording messages and freeing up slots for more callers.
Don't tell me there's not technology out there to accommodate an unlimited number of calls ... in the cloud.
And I'm sure the elected officials can find disciples/volunteers to listen to the recorded messages.

Re: “Editor's Note

Copied from another source. Feel free to repost everywhere:
"Calls are what all the congresspeople pay attention to. Every day, their staff and the Rep./Senator get a report of the 3 most-called-about topics for that day at each of their offices (in DC and local offices), and exactly how many people said what about each of those topics.

They're also sorted by zip code and area code. And this is IMPORTANT: Republican callers generally outnumber Democrat callers 4-1, and when it's a particular issue that single-issue-voters pay attention to (like gun control, or planned parenthood funding), it's often closer to 11-1, and that has pushed Republican congressfolks on the fence to vote with the other Republicans. In the last 8 years, Republicans have called, and Democrats have not."
Emails and online petitions are usually ignored, because interest groups have automated the process with pre-filled comments that one only has to add one's name to and click submit. Your elected representatives are not going to pay attention to communication that they know only took 30 seconds of your time.

@Debra C:
No accident. There's a plaque at the entrance to the Statue of Liberty which contains Emma Lazarus' great ode - which Mari quotes in part here.
