Re: “Arts, Big and Small

Hey, Jim,

I would like to volunteer to write a column for The Weekly called "Ask a Chicagoan." This column is a spin-off of the justly popular "Ask a Mexican" that used to be in The Weekly. With election looming we know what city is Trump's perpetual whipping town. So to avoid the usual stereotypical views of my hometown of Chicago, we need ASK A CHICAGOAN.

I am also starting a short play involving this concept, so the column will help my creativity.
You may have some and I also have a fe wothers who can field questions.

Re: “Gimme Shelter

While I found your tribute to Green Fields Country Day School reflective and informative, There was a piece of it's history you failed to mention. Kerri Strug, An Alum of Green Field's, who was a member of the Magnificent Seven, the victorious all-around women's gymnastic team that represented The USA in the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. She famously and courageously performed the vault with an injured ankle and was carried to the podium by her coach, Bela Karolyi. My daughter attended Green Fields around that time and I remember that it was the talk of the school, the town, and the nation.

Re: “Gimme Shelter

I see that the article does not mention the $533,000 cost to initially revamp the detention center. I(ts good enough to house juveniles but not illegals?) The article also doesnt mention the estimated $1million + annual cost of housing the illegals that the Catholic Community services is not going to pay for! Where is this money coming from the supervisors have already committed to oh yes the residents of Pima county. The collective illegal immigrant supporting residents of The county should all step up and each take in a few of these illegals house, feed, clothe, and pay medical expenses as well as provide transportation and be held responsible for the iillegals court dates and eventual deportation.

Re: “Gimme Shelter

Again, another reason to vote no when dingleberry and the unsupervisors ask for more money. They are going to raise your property taxes anyway like the just did quietly and waste them on illegals and yes remember this when the unsuperivors are up for reelection.

Re: “Editor’s note

Please have someone write up the recent Qualified Opportunity Zones here in Tucson! People need to know how to benefit from them ! This year !
(Be advised that the "big guys are furiously working to acquire them)....and most of the small Owners of the business or land don't even know that it makes their property worth a bit more due to the Tax Benefits recently incorporated into the law.

A great place to buy mostly local, handmade gifts is Cactus Wren Artisans Gallery, at Cat Mountain Station, 2740 S. Kinney Rd. The gallery is open 7 days a week (except major holidays), with some 66 artists and artisans. Gifts come in all prices and all kinds: A bonus is breakfast or lunch at Coyote Pause Cafe.

Re: “Editor’s note

I was saddened to see that the TUCSON CONVENTION CENTER was not A.D.A. cmplant on November 2nd. There was no way to get in the building from parking lot A which they charged $10 to park in. When I brought this to there attention, they told me I should have just pounded on the doors. I explained that there are ten doors and several signs saying no entry. The push button to open the door for wheel chairs did not work. The sign informed us to go around the building to gain entry on the west side. Since you receive sizable add revenue from the Center I am sure this situation will never come to light in your Weekly.

"Or if you think we're a bunch of hippie commie snowflakes looking to further the radical lib agenda, do exactly the opposite of what we suggest."

A good laugh was needed this afternoon...

"We'll leave that bit up to you."

...or the Russians...or whomever will be the next influence in this election - Saudi?

No different than why were were not told that Sen Dianne Feinstein's driver for 20 years was a Chinese spy.

She needs to resign before she doers more harm to the country.

Re: “Editor's Note

JIM I have followed & enjoyed you for for many years on radio & TW and Ive never known you to shy away from controversial topics in Tucson! So why am I not reading some frontline coverage of this corrupt incompetent charity that has a major footprint here in the Old Pueblo? Im a local Uber driver and seldom find any locals who are even aware of this groups existence here. Whenever I pick up their employees at one detention site on Oracle, they always clam up if I ask them about SWK, saying they are not allowed to mention their jobs there (as if they are guilty of doing something wrong)! As an old school journalist myself, I believe there is a big time cover story here but I have missed it somehow in your articles and opinions. Wassup?
