Re: “The Skinny

There he goes again! The Weakly's editor can't leave Supervisor Miller or the recently-widowed Lori Hunnicutt alone. A competent, hard-working and intelligent person got a job. So what? Is it news because she's a journalist? Hey -- The local newspapers have been the pathway to much-higher paid county Communications Dept. jobs for others. Maybe it's that she won't be another flack for Huckelberry. Is it that she makes about ten percent of the editor's pal's county salary? Or is it maybe that she's a strong and independent woman? Or is it -- once again -- just a cheap shot on behalf of the county administrator to divert attention from putting more taxpayer dollars into deals for cronies and the continuing rejection by voters to get us to pay out more?

For the record -- I write occasionally for the Arizona Daily Independent. I wrote regularly for what are now Tucson Local Media papers (which includes the Weakly) for over a decade, before management decided to give up journalism and crony up to the county power structure.

Re: “The Skinny

Well, there the Weakly's editor goes again, like there aren't more important things to discuss. Such as. what responsibility lies with the County Administrator's misrepresentations about the road bonds that caused them to be defeated? Again. Such as, just how much money was spent on "public art" for the Huckelberry Loop? Such as, what was the final total cost of the World View balloon explosion? Such as, why do we need to buy a bowling alley and a failed golf course? Such as, why is Huckelberry now proposing to double the sales tax he has been saying doesn't exist in Pima County? Things a real journalist might be asking instead of being the county administrator's attack dog.

Now about missing mail: Mine comes in and goes out from a rural roadside mailbox, and -- unknown to me -- a bill payment went astray. Lost? Stolen? Who knows? But I incurred a late charge and a stop payment fee -- expenses I can ill afford. So missing mail does have negative consequences in the real world. And there are desperate people -- or politically-motivated game players -- who do steal mail. And that's a crime.

Re: “The Skinny

Hmm... Who reported a crime to PCSD and wasted taxpayer dollars on an investigation of the theft?

Re: “The Skinny turns out that Supervisor Richard Elias got his copy two days late. Incompetence in the delivery system, or is someone playing games? In either case, Huckelberry played the Weakly's editor by not mentioning Elias when he sought another hit piece on Miller. Could Charles be the source of the game-playing? Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after us! And by the way -- how many taxpayer dollars WERE spent on public art for the Huckelberry Loop?

Re: “The Skinny

E gads. This is the largest mole hill to hit Tucson since the great parking space scandle of 1980. Citizens rights are being violated as we speak! Its time to make a citizens arrest and show Huckleberry that not sending a memo to everybody is an absolute slap in the face to outraged citizens everywhere who elected supervisors precisely to read those memos. Or not.

Re: “The Skinny

Once again the Tucson Weakly's editor carries out his mission to attack Supervisor Miller and divert attention from Charles Huckelberry's clear insubordination. First, the county administrator is a hired employee who is legally responsible to the Board of Supervisors. Miller is an elected member of that Board, and therefore, one of Huckelberry's bosses. Second, the public has a right to know the cost of things, and one of the jobs of the BOS is to ferret out that information for the public. Third, since the BOS is elected and Huckelberry is not, he works for us, all of us. But he forgets that regularly.

Supervisor Miller has asked a simple question relating to fiscal integrity: How much money has been spent on public art for the Huckelberry bicycle loop? Our employee is refusing to provide that information -- which is insubordination. But that is not the story in the Weakly, whose editor continues his Trump-like attacks on Miller. Please, dear readers, look at what Supervisor Miller has said and make up your own minds:

I am a duly elected representative of the residents of District 1 of Pima County, said Supervisor Miller on Wednesday. As such, I believe it is my duty and within the scope of my authority to request information to assist in carrying out my duties. Huckleberrys response is clearly an act of insubordination. It is my opinion that County Administrator Huckleberry is violating the civil rights of the residents who elected me to this position.

Re: “The Skinny

It;s called EMTALA, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. It's for emergency treatment only. Cancer treatments are not considered emergency treatment.
Taxpayers don't care for anyone; the hospital does because all human beings deserve emergency care.

Re: “The Skinny

Can anybody explain to me how he could be dead when hospitals can not deny care? When you complete that ask yourself why taxpayers care for illegals that have no insurance and get everything they need.

I know Ann Kirkpatrick personally. She's a wonderful person and a fantastic candidate. I'm not sure it's a blue wave, it's just Ann's a terrific candidate who's making Peterson look a bit amateurish.

Re: “The Skinny

The Tr administration is still separating parents from children. This month, it is approx 50 US citizen children from their parents seeking asylum. Since currently, our Rep. senators and representatives vote the party line, I will not be considering her.
