Re: “The Skinny

I agree AVL and respect your opinion. Ms Miller worked harder on our stinking roads than anybody there. I will miss her as everybody does not need to agree in lockstep, or you can see what we got with the Democrats in Congress. We must have some variety of thought. This paper could use some too.

Re: “The Skinny

True to form, the Weakly's editor publicly gloats when he perceives that the target of his years of bullying has given up. Just like the bully in the White House. That's how bullies are -- mean-spirited and nasty to the end. I do not share Ms. Miller's politics, and I don't live in her district, but I respect that she has been the lone voice challenging the deep-seated corruption in Pima County, saying a loud NO when the rest of the Board of Supervisors is kissing the County Administrator's butt. -- an appointed semi-dictator who is ruining good county departments by staffing them with incompetent cronies; who is -- like the editor -- vindictive to those whose challenge him; one of the highest-paid county administrators in the nation who has tried to double-tax us time and again; a hireling who has championed an Avra Valley Interstate 11 for years in violation of the elected BOS's own policies and gotten away with it, no matter the threats to communities and wildlife. No, cronies come first: the Cardon Family. Diamond Ventures. There was a time when the Weakly and other Tucson Local Media papers did their job and exposed the shenanigans instead of being sycophants. That was before the Weakly went "green," when it was still a real newspaper. Thank goodness the Independent and the Sentinel still provide some semblance of a free press.

Re: “The Skinny

If we want good candidates rather than the Millers and Trumps, reasonable people of both parties must vote in primaries.

Re: “The Skinny

What an amazing record! She's obviously ready for greater things from her party, having ticked all the "crazy" boxes possible while a supervisor. On to new (R) frontiers!

Re: “The Skinny

I think voters might have gone for a 3% raise for Council, which is about what regular "civilians" have received over the past years. It was the principle of the matter, even though as an individual the cost to me would have been less than $20/year.

Nitzel presenting facts and feelings readers will reach their own conclusions? How about more of that?

Re: “The Skinny

Party affiliation was visible on the envelope? That's crazy. That needs to be changed immediately.

Congratulations to the winners, and good luck. I'm sure nothing will change as developers continue to run the city. Turnout was, indeed, impressive. And thank heaven voters overwhelmingly vetoed the silly sanctuary proposition. Tucson doesn't need to waste time inserting itself into national politics.

Re: “The Skinny

So much for the narrative that Republicans are the party of the moneyed elite. Turns out it's the Democrats.

Re: “The Skinny

I doubt that anyone needs to take a "cheap shot" at Ms Miller. She does just fine entirely on her own.

Re: “The Skinny

Another cheap shot at Supervisor Miller from the Weakly's Bully-Boy. And never mentioned the World View balloon explosion that cost -- how many dollars? Selective reporting -- is that what people mean by "fake news?"

Re: “The Skinny

Is the Weekly going to be doing a voting guide/making recommendations for this election? Or have your corporate masters put a stop to that? Since the ballots just came out, it would be nice to have it sooner than later.

Re: “The Skinny

Kudos to "sgsmith" who is able to see the real problem here. Maybe he/she/they would be willing to run for public office in Pima County. . .or write for the "Weekly".

Re: “The Skinny

"Miller griped that during rainstorms, the office windows leak."

Just another example of the multi-generational climate deniers who have lived in Tucson for decades. No, I'm not talking about those that question the science and existence of global climate change and call it a theory or a hoax (it's neither), but those who have for years refused to acknowledge that it DOES rain in Tucson Arizona.

You know, the people in government who won't build roads and bridges with suitable drainage, not because it doesn't rain in Tucson, but because it rains so little and "costs so much" to do anything about it -- even when doing something about it would save more money instead of constant repair costs, not to mention the potential for risking lives with roadways that turn into flooded death traps for motorists and the first responders who have to rescue those who put the "stupid" into the Stupid Motorist Law.

Nope, don't worry about the leaky windows and roofs. Forget about the flooded streets and washed out roadways. The sun will come out, dry everything up and we can all get back to wondering, "When do you think it will rain again?"

Re: “The Skinny

Yes, A(nna)VL, facts often get in the way of taking the Bully Boy and his minions' word for it:

American Industrial Hygiene Association: there are no standards for acceptable levels of mold in the indoor environment.

US Center for Disease Control: "excessive exposure to mold-contaminated materials can cause adverse health effects in susceptible persons regardless of the type of mold or the extent of contamination."
When mold cannot be prevented, the CDC recommends clean-up protocol including first taking emergency action to stop water intrusion. Second, they recommend determining the extent of water damage and mold contamination. And third, they recommend planning remediation activities such as establishing containment and protection for workers and occupants; eliminating water or moisture sources if possible; decontaminating or removing damaged materials and drying any wet materials; evaluating whether the space has been successfully remediated; and reassembling the space to control sources of moisture.

BTW - I'm a Warren supporter. Dump Trump!

A(nna)VL:

Did you actually read the article? It's damn near impossible to fake ELEVEN PAGES of test results. Let me guess, you're probably a tRump lover also, correct? Your kind HATES facts.

Re: “The Skinny

Here he goes again...the Bully Boy can't leave Supervisor Miller and her staff alone. No matter that mold, for someone like me with COPD, is a major threat that constituents should not be exposed to. And the leaking windows? Maybe just a dab of the millions spent on failed and failing projects -- anyone remember World View? -- could be diverted to making the offices of our elected representatives safe.
