43rd Annual Juneteenth

A family fun event celebrates the day in 1865 when news of emancipation reached the last African American slaves in Texas, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 15; free. Activities include a puppet petting zoo, a musical puppet play about Juneteenth, books with a heritage focus, brain puzzles and arts and crafts. Healthy snacks are free, and presentations highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Hot dogs are free from noon to 1 p.m. Call 390-0155 for more information.
