Silver-Impregnated Alginate

Alginate dressings are made from natural seaweed and calcium. When placed on a wound, they form a gel that keeps the wound moist, which is essential for healing. The addition of silver gives the dressing antibacterial power, reducing bacterial growth and helping protect against infection.

Silver has been valued for its healing properties since ancient times. The Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians all used it long before modern science confirmed its benefits. The dressings I use are safe for healthy skin and non-toxic when applied correctly, but they should always be used under professional supervision. Betadine (Iodine Therapy)

Betadine is an iodine-based antiseptic that kills bacteria, viruses, and fungi on contact. It helps prevent infection and supports the body’s natural healing process. This treatment has been trusted for decades in hospitals and clinics worldwide.

Betadine is inexpensive, easy to apply, and effective against a broad range of microbes – though you do need to be careful because it can stain clothing and other surfaces. For many patients, it offers the right balance of safety, effectiveness, and cost, particularly when newer, more expensive products are not covered by insurance. I value Betadine for its dependability and predictable results, providing strong antimicrobial protection without unnecessary complexity or expense. It is also something many patients recognize from prior care, which can make them feel more confident in the treatment plan.
