In case you dozed off somewhere in the middle of the Star‘s extensive story on Frank Antenori’s speeding ticket/suspended license woes, you might have missed this gem from the penultimate paragraph:
A Phoenix police officer testified against the measure last week, saying he believes it will lead to more accidents and deaths. That led the House Transportation Committee to kill the measure, and triggered an angry shouting match between Antenori and the officer outside the hearing room.
More from the Huffington Post (sigh) via the Arizona Guardian:
A Republican Arizona state senator running for the U.S. House seat vacated by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D) slammed a local police officer for opposing his legislation in a committee hearing, calling the officer a “six-foot-four, 250-pound crybaby,” according to the Arizona Guardian.
State Sen. Frank Antenori laid into Phoenix police officer Walter Olsen Thursday when the officer testified against Antenori’s bill aimed at reducing the number of drivers caught running red lights by cameras. Antenori accused Olsen of lying to the committee while swearing loudly and pointing his finger at him, the Arizona Guardian reports.
“I was very upset and I raised my voice but I never touched the guy,” Antenori said afterward, according to the Guardian. “Trust me, if I assaulted him he’d know it. I can’t help that a six-foot-four 250-pound crybaby felt intimidated by a little legislator.”
Oh, Frank. You can’t even stop yelling at people when you’re running for Congress, can you?
This article appears in Mar 15-21, 2012.

This is absolutely unforgivable in a candidate. He acts like a spoiled crybaby himself but just can’t see it. We do not need another,”holier than thou” Republican in the seat of our wonderful crusader Gabrielle Giffords. Can you imagine him representing our district compared to her? Vote for Ron Barber! he is more in the mold of Gabrielle and the candidate she approves of.
Frank Antenori is merely trying to make a living. What’s so wrong with that, Dan Gibson?
I am proud of Gabby too Vicki, but she and Barberi are something that in the long run is very damaging to America…they’re Democrats…..the party of the self-righteous, pro big government and anti-freedom. Twenty years down the road when your health care is determined by rigid government guidelines covering cost and marginal availability, you’ll probably still be brain washed to think that big government and the Democratic party are the “good guys” because they allow you your “free” government healthcare.
gibson is bais just like the newpaper one sided……
Martha McSally is a better choice.
Antenori just can’t handle himself as a serious candidate.
No Republican had a chance at beating Kelly in a short election anyway.
Odds: I’ll take Kelly -15%
Thank you for bringing this to the Tucson public’s attention. People need to realize that, at his core, Antenori is a bully.
Frank Antenori is a complete disgrace. I was wondering why he referred to the cop as a 6 foot 4 inch, 250 pound man. I looked up Franks picture and noticed he is vertically and follically challenged. He reminds me of the kid who was picked on in high school and finally has his chance to show what a “big man” he is. His web page shows his military service which is commendable. What struck me about his web page is the fact there are several veterans I know who have won medals and who are humble. His web page harps on just his medal and not any other accomplishments. This guy probably wears his medal to bed and must tell everyone how he won it. Frank. you are a complete idiot and you need to apologize to this cop who has 26 years (not just 4 years of service like you) of public service. The best part of this incident is the fact you called the cop a crybaby! YOU WERE THE LOSER CRYBABY AND NOT THE COP!! You have no business being a legislator. The circus needs a few midgets.
Antenori’s just an angry, sad little man. With his balled up lil’ fists, his permanently gnashed teeth, and the rhythmic stamping of his angry lil’ feet, he’s just a vortex of negativity trying to convince voters that he can actually DO something to improve the world, when in fact it’s just impossible that anything positive could come out of such a dark place. Other than political comedy.
I think Frank “Did I tell you I served in the Army” Antenori has a major masculinity hang-up. Ergo he is the perfect Republican candidate.
I’m sorry, I fail to see where “Frank Antenori Loses His Mind”. Since the title of the article suggests this is a daily feature, I look forward to tomorrow’s editorial. In the interest of fairness, I would also like to read the “Ron Barber Loses His Mind” moment of the day. The last time I heard about Ron Barber losing his mind was when he decided that he should be in Congress just because he was Gifford’s water boy and he got shot.
With things the way they are in progressive politics is it any wonder that Frank loses it once in a while….did you ever see what an ass that Maxine Waters makes of herself in congress saying she is going to “socialize” the oil industry? She gets loud and foolish also……thats just one example……
Cody: When Ron Barber threatens a cop, I’ll be sure to write about it.
Someone up above mentioned Jessie Kelly. Isn’t that the fellow who’s campaign staff are telling people who volunteer their services that, “We don’t want your help. You’re not authorized to volunteer.” That’s happened to several people around the area lately.
Gabby was my Congresswoman, and I’m also in Antenori’s district. I’ve written his office as a constituent, asking him to vote against specific bills. I’ve received a couple of very rude replies from him. These were shocking–coming from a legislator, I expected a more tactful response. My entire family will be voting for Ron Barber. I can only hope Antenori and Kelly politically “destroy” each other–both would be severely detrimental to the people living in this district.
This is just so ironic. Frank has received two photo violations for driving like an idiot. Now that this bully is in the legislature he is using his power to try to change the laws! The first violation was speeding 57 in a 40. The second ticket was a blatant red light ticket which endangered the rest of the drivers. He does have a defense I believe for the dangerous red light ticket. The little bully midget could not see over the steering wheel even while in his booster seat. His truck is huge which is right in line with his need to compensate for his size…….
Really! The photo radar companies should be investigated for how they change the timing of the lights. They risk lives, property damage, jeopardize peoples finances, for the sake of revenue generation. Look at the lights in the cities with photo enforcement. Search the internet for the nationally recognized standards for operating intersections. You will clearly see that the lights are set up to increase the number of light runners thus increasing the amount of revenue. The cop was a thug hired by the photo enforcement company to represent them… Not to defend Antenori for being a bully or an idiot in his choice of representation but for once he was right. At least the guy has a backbone.
