I personally don’t understand why the tax payers, have to pay for a street car, that is mostly going to be used by the University in the first place, and 90% of the tax payers will never use the thing. And then with the project taking so long to build, it is destroying business for the companies down town. the planners never counted on that or they just don’t care as long as their pockets are full.
OldDog, Tucsonans should pay their share for the good as a whole, not just in their own corner of the town.
As for the businesses, if you are concerned, don’t just preach it. Do it! Get out there and spend some money on the struggling businesses.
Also – because it makes your town a little more awesome, which it can use. we all live here. you could try to actually use it when it’s done instead of hurrumphing from the sidelines.
I just returned from a trip to Colorado and New Mexico. While driving on I-25 between Albuquerque and Santa Fe I saw their “Rail Runner” commuter train service speeding along between these two cities. I wonder how long it will take for Arizona to implement a similar service…? My guess is never.
Arizona, unfortunately, seems stuck compared to our neighbor to the East.
