- Roadhouse Cinemas is expected to open in the fall.
Tucson moviegoers are going to have to decide if they want beer or wine with their entrées while watching a film, at least at one theater this fall when Roadhouse Cinemas takes over the Grand Cinemas Crossroads 6 theater located in the Crossroads Festivals shopping center at the corner of East Grant and North Swan Road. According to the press release, $2 million dollars will go to renovating the movie house, including new niceties like sizable leather reclining seats, high end projection and seatside service from a wait staff. “There will be a Roadhouse style restaurant and bar area in the lobby with an adjoining outdoor patio,” Roadhouse Cinemas General Manager Scott Cassell said.

Menu items will feature entrées and desserts made from scratch by two-time Silver Spoon winner Vincent Mast, according to the press release. Cassell says the theater will sell local craft beer and wine. “We are going to bring a brand new concept in movie theaters to Tucson that is sweeping the nation with tremendous popularity,” Cassell said.
Film lovers attending the pub-style theater must be 21 years or older. Roadhouse will offer first-run and family films, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
Go to the Roadhouse Cinemas website or Facebook page for more information.

You really had me going on this one. Great April Fools day joke. I mean, who in their right mind would do such a concept here? Really? Good one TW.
It’s real! I swear!
I don’t understand how “21 and older” and “children must be accompanied by an adult” can exist simultaneously.

They have these all over the country. You really did not know that?
The one I went to in Alaska served pizza, burritos, nachos and salads. Nachos and salads never worked as far as I was concerned…you have to be able to see that food to eat it without making a huge freaking mess. Cheese or dressing were inevitable stains. They made some damn fine fusion burritos there. That place was two different restaurants as well as a theater, they had a good business model and a tightknit clientele which helped.
I always thought the old theater across Wilmot from Park Place Mall would have been a good theater-pub place.
Awesome can’t waittttttttt!
“over $2 million dollars” is repetitive.
Is there an editor on duty?
Heck, I liked the idea of a cheap movie theater more than another eatry/movie house. It will fail
And that’s why a place like this won’t ever make it in Tucson. so negative. Oh, I know, let’s open another bar.
The Grand Cinemas was not given the option to renew rhe lease even though the owner had been doing business there for years. I hope people join to support a petition to keep the current one open instead of an ocerpriced, subpar food theater.
They could take all the empty space at thw center on Grant and Country Club or the center on Ft. Lowell and Mountain.
Sounds great!!
They have these theaters in Phoenix already. Glad to see Tucson is finally getting one. I went to the AMC in Phoenix and sat in one of the recliners and had food served to our seats. It was really cool. No loud and rowdy people, or cell phone idiots. AMC had a similar policy that it was 21 yrs and older. Children could go BUT they had to go with an adult. I don’t know how much they will charge but if it is in line with other movie theaters I’ll be there all the time. I find it interesting that some ding bats cast opinions without even knowing like “kel4ravens”…..how do you know the prices or what the food is like without even going? Somebody else that graduated from Dingbat U…
Beer and a movie, sounds good.
I’ve been to these types of theatres as chains (IL, TX, and Phx AZ), but I’ve also been to a mom and pop version that’s been operating for over 20 years (MA).
That said, I’m with tucson9999, this is the most negative place I’ve ever lived. People’s listening for happiness, love, and light is SO hosed here it’s a wonder this city can even function on a daily basis. I have lived in much larger and much smaller cities, and the attitude here is what’s causing the higher-than-national unemployment rate y’all complain about nonstop as if it was everyone else’s fault. Your attitude, Fraser, and those like you are the reason why Tesla has not jumped head-first into Tucson as the prime location. They can smell the black plague here, and it’s giving them pause. I admit I do like tucson9999’s idea of opening another bar though, except let’s design it for the Dorian Gray’s and the Bitter Pills of this city so they’ll want to go there and drink themselves into the grave–because I’m certain if they don’t lose their attitude, this will be the first city in the nation to experience unemployment of 20% even when everyone else drops back down to 6%. Free your mind and your a$$ will follow.
I am so going to miss the Crossroads. Such a nice, simple movie theater!
This is the worst location on earth. Failed as a full price theater and barely got by with $3.00 films. This is a non starter. Tucson will not come through.
Note to the General Manager…draw a regular salary. Do not fall for the old “bonus” or “percentage of the profits” because there won’t be any.
Got $50 gift certificates to Crossroads for Christmas. We had no warning about this. I feel ripped off. Wtf
What a great idea , have been to a similar venue in Spain….Wow thanks for having the guts to do this in the old Pueblo…We will be attending with family and friends…Raff and Giselle
Great….now instead of just being annoyed by people who don’t turn off their phones or text during the movie, we can be annoyed by the clanking of plates and utensils and the constant busy-ness of the wait staff talking in whispers. Add alcohol to the mix and have a bunch of drunk idiots coming out of the theatre. So we can’t have a business any more unless it includes alcohol? What about this adults only but the kids can come with parents? So the 5 year olds that the parents don’t want to pay a babysitter to watch will be allowed in this environment, while mom and dad drink and watch a movie that’s not really acceptable for the kids? Oh I want to go there! Not to mention how overpriced it has to be to make up for fewer seats and the cushy $2 million price tag. I’m with several of these folks, I don’t think Tucson folks will keep it going for very long. You can count me out. Its annoying enough having people slurp their straws and having their phones on vibrate so they can get the texts that are oh so important.
I cannot wait to go, and neither can my friends!
I’ll give it a shot! If I like it, I’ll return, if I don’t I won’t! Simple as that….but I can’t criticise something I’ve never experienced!
Why don’t all you grumpy people stay at home so those of us that want to have fun are not disturbed by your nastiness?
Can’t wait to check it out..love it. I’m glad Tucson is coming up with fun new ideas and I’m glad people are investing in this city, we all benefit from that.
Can’t wait to check it out. So happy to see Tucson adding more fun and different things to do and excited to see investors putting their dollars into our city.
@joesler-eque Gosh, should we call you a whaaaambulance? What a negative tirade on something you’ve never even tried or something that doesn’t even exist yet. Wow, that was epic. I’m glad we can “count you out!” Wouldn’t want such a negative party pooper there, anyway.
This is a great idea. The old cinema was getting to be the worst. The screen was shaky and the theaters were always dirty. The cheapness of everything was nice but I would pay more to have better quality. Recliners, full bar, full menu and leg room sound like a dream worth paying for. Plus, this is a place for adults not whiny, crying, loud children. If you are mad about that, go to the cheap theaters and leave us out of that. I’m all for this and am promoting you guys via word of mouth. I can’t wait to experience this.
I heard there is supposed to be a skittle pie, and other off the wall items to eat. I’ll check it out.
21 and Older for Pub Style-Children must be accompanied by Adult for Family Films.
We used to go to these kind of places in Taiwan in the 1980s…great fun and great food and great service. I am sure that in he 21st century, the concept is even better! Have been waiting for the Cinema to OPEN! =)
