Romney’s beating Santorum, which is what most pundits will take away from the Arizona Presidential Preference Primary tonight, but the real news is the success Tucson Weekly endorsed Project White House candidate Sarah Gonzales is having so far. Currently, with 244 of 722 precincts reporting, she already has 1,095 votes, putting her in sixth place, behind Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, Paul, and Rick Perry. However, she’s within striking distance of Perry, who currently has 1,418 votes.

Our Green Party endorsement has been less helpful, as Richard Grayson has 18 votes, trailing leader Jill Stein, who has 202.

More to come as the evening unfolds.

The editor of the Tucson Weekly. I have no idea how I got here.

  1. Sarah has been beating former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer, who has dropped out of the Republican race and is now seeking the Americans Elect Party nomination. I would ask Sarah to be a candidate for the Americans Elect Party, which will be more favorable to her than the Republicans. Keep running, Sarah, run!

  2. Everyday I post in moderated columns in The New York Times. Some times they publish, sometimes not. Here is the piece in the hopper responding to Thomas L. Friedman’s column:

I am an independent write-in candidate for president, seeking the nomination of both political parties, to present a united face to the world. My approach is above the pay grades of all the other candidates; your pay grade, too.

I bring to the table a Television Scripture, 112 page double column hand lettered prophetic word art, created to perform on whirled wide television, from dusk until dawn, like old blind Homer, rivaling Dante, near every line a delicate sensible rhyme.

In my lexicon World Peace begins with a peaceful night—all the worlds’ peoples doing the same thing at the same time—watching a TV show— so the quest yin is: PoetProphet fun to listen to? That you decide for your self upon hearing and seeing the story of Adman and Even in the Gar Den ov Edum, followed by all the ancient stories retold, at the same time the settlement of every turf issue on Good ship Mother Earth.

Do eye have the mixture of words, world orders and word hors d’oeuvres? Of course. Can I settle every issue in the Middle East, with words. Certainly. I need to produce a live TV show with all the American people standing behind me (at least pretending they are behind me) —for purposes of a wag dog TV Show— and then, when every eye ball throughout that part of the world is glued to their TV sets—settle every thing.

Well, as a candidate for president I am in three federal district courts and the judges are not proponents of First Amendment rights.

  3. She wants to tear down the border wall???? Really?? Please, can we pass a law that would require only serious candidates make it to the ballot??

  4. Wonderful idea, anom. The problem with that would be establishing criteria that would determine whether or not someone is a “serious candidate,” which would exclude a number of people from potentially participating in the democratic process.

Besides, Ron Paul is against border walls as well. You can call him a joke candidate, but he’s had just as many strong showings as most of the “serious candidates” he’s run against nationally.

  5. Thanks to Pima County voters who put me over the top — from fifth to fourth place — with their votes yesterday.

I would like to commend Michael Oatman, who got 100% of the vote in Apache County! Greens were unanimous there in supporting him. (or Green, anyway) I had my best showing in Mohave County, wherever that is, where I got 25% of the vote.

And in Santa Cruz, La Paz and Greenlee Counties, Gary Swing finished in a tie for first with Michael and me — and all the other candidates, because nobody got any votes. I guess a pessimist could say we tied for last place:(

Turnout in the Green Party primary was about 10%. Thanks again to Tucson Weekly for Project White House and congratulations to all of the Republican and Green candidates who ran campaigns. Thanks to Jim Nintzel.

And Sarah Gonzales is the new Sarah Palin. She will be getting her own reality show soon.
