1. It’s nice Foley is revealing he was molested by a clergyman as a teenager and all, but I think it would have had more impact had he done so before the scandal erupted. Now it just looks like groveling.
  2. I hope Democrats don’t get too self-righteous about the scandal. It sucks that this is the thing that’s dragging the GOP down, instead of more substantive issues like the bungled war in Iraq or the damage done to our democratic institutions and principles.
  3. Homosexuality is not equivalent to pedophilia. I’ve read some of my socially conservative brethren already making that connection, and, well, it’s not true. So just get used to it.
  4. How would the news coverage and the outpouring of scorn be different if the pages were girls?

  1. 1. Jay Leno blasted Foley last night for his lame excuses. I love the audacity of late talk shows.
    2. Compared to other countries, the U.S. is sexually repressed and the powers that be like to keep it that way. I’m hoping it’s just another nail in the GOP’s coffin. It’s sex, lies, and videotape all over again.
    3. Unfortunately, people who are homophobic will always wrongfully make those two comparisons.
    4. The politicos would probably get a damn pat on the back (wink, wink) if it were girls. Blame would probably be alluded to the girls because they wore short skirts or tight blouses. Maybe they would reference Monica Lewinsky and her brazen aggression. Boys will be boys but they can’t just be with other boys.

  2. Its amazing how the American media works. We have lost fifteen more American service people over the last couple days, and what is getting attention? Its just another sex scandal. And it wasn’t even real sex.

Florida Republican Rep. Mark Foley’s instant message records indicate he is a dude who gets off on fantasy cyber sex with teenaged boys. I believe this is the first virtual sex scandal in Washington DC political history.

Back here in the real world, American men and women are killed, maimed and scarred, both physically and emotionally every day. War is hell. Finally, the mainstream media is beginning to support our troops by speaking the truth about their sacrifices. more
